[ B o o k s t o r e ]Draco got up, unaware and honestly unbothered by the time. Pulling on some casual sweatpants and a black tee, he walked towards his kitchen counter to find his Hogwarts letter casually resting there. He was shocked to find that the new headmistress McGonagall was giving him a second chance at his 7th year.
He didn't have much to do in the huge Malfoy Manor, both his parents had been sentenced to Azkaban and any excuse to leave his house he would take. He grabbed the things needed and changed into more presentable clothes for a quick visit to Diagon Alley.
Just as he's about to leave, something fell out of his envelope. It was a small note, similar to the prefect one he received 3 or 4 years ago, he guessed it'll probably be taking away his prefect privileges but no, the opposite in fact. He was head boy...
He continued reading, he was shocked and, as much as he hated to admit, excited to be the head boy, he also found out the head girl was none other than the Gryffindor Princess: Hermione Granger. He scoffed, McGonagall put him with one of the three people he never got along with throughout his years at school but who else could've been it.
His views on muggle-borns had changed, he no longer hated them but it would take a while to get completely used to it, he guessed she was probably also going to be at Diagon Alley doing the same preparations, might as well make a good impression.
He apparated to Diagon Alley and took a quick look around before wandering into Flourish and Blotts. Most likely where Hermione would be, even if she wasn't; most of the things on the list was in there anyways.
He entered and took a quick look around, no sight of the bushy haired girl. He went upstairs taking two steps at a time, the books on the second floor were higher quality most of the time. While gathering the books, he saw the younger Weasley along with the next head girl.
Draco noticed her the bright grin she had on her face, it was no surprise she was happier on after the war, he just couldn't recall the last time she looked so happy. It was no secret she looked nice but he wasn't allowed by his father and so he simply distracted himself with other girls.
Blaise walked over to try and jump scare his best friend but instead caught him staring at something on the first floor. He still did jump scare him which caused Draco to nearly fall over since he'd been so off-guard.
"Mate, what you staring at?" Blaise asked, trying to trace Draco's eyes to where he previously was staring. Draco turned around and picked up a random book hoping to change the subject. Before he got the chance Blaise interrupted.
Blaise had successfully traced who he was staring at and realised it was none other than Hermione Granger. "Oh wow, you were staring at Granger?" Blaise asked in shocked.
"Shut up?" Draco asked rhetorically. "For your information, this year I've been assigned head boy and obviously, she's the head girl." He said grabbing a book on his list. He shot Blaise a quick glance and saw that he was still in shock. "You need to relax mate."
Blaise shook his head to bring himself back to earth, "You and her? I really don't see it, what was McGonagall thinking?" He asked.
Draco shrugged, "I don't know but I wander if I can survive a whole year constantly with her, I mean all our classes are together not to mention the shifts and having to share dorms! It's a lot."
Blaise nodded his head, proving he understood but then stopped. "Don't you not hate muggle-borns anymore?"
"Yeah I don't, but she's still an - insufferably know-it-all." Draco replied with a smirk, quoting his old potions professor.
Blaise nodded again, "Well good luck, I'll see you on the train." He waved and walked off, Draco waved back and turned to look at Hermione again. This time Hermione looked back up at him...
