Marinette
His hair.
His eyes.
Why was everything about him so... perfect?

He carried a type of inexplicable beauty with him wherever he walked, and a single glance from him would make Marinette crumble into a puddle of happiness.

She sighed and looked wistfully at the city from her balcony. He would never love her. Especially if she couldn't even show him that she was worth liking. God, she couldn't even get a sentence out when talking to him.

"Marinette!" Marinette gasped and turned around, jolted out of her thoughts. Her mom popped her head out of the trapdoor she had leading up to her balcony. "It's time to go!"

"Where?" Marinette asked, confused.

"It's election day silly. Did you really forget? You were supposed to make the banner."

Marinette laughed. "Of course I didn't forget mom, this is one of the biggest events of the year! I'll be down in like, less than five minutes!"

Her mom smiled. "I knew you wouldn't forget. You're always so on top of everything." she closed the trapdoor, and only when her footsteps faded to silence, Marinette slapped her hand to her forehead and ran into her room as fast as her legs could take her.

"I totally forgot to finish the banner Tikki!" she said, frantically searching for the banner she had half finished.

"AHA!" She exclaimed, holding up the tightly coiled banner. I just need to add some flourishes then I'll be done!"
She added some extra details to the banner, and before she knew it ten minutes had flown by.

"I'm gonna be so so late!" Marinette wailed, drying the banner with a blow dryer.

"It's okay Marinette," said Tikki. "If you hurry up and finish the banner you can-"

"Transform into Ladybug and bring it to the election center!" Marinette exclaimed, jumping up. "Great idea Tikki you're the best!"

Tikki shook her head.

"Tikki, spots on!" Marinette cried.

Once she was Ladybug, she jumped over the roofs with her yo-yo, the banner clutched in her left arm.

She stopped in an alley to rest for a second as she caught her breath. Come on Marinette, hurry up! She thought frustratedly. Just as she was about to swing her yo-yo back up, a voice stopped her.

"L-Ladybug?" she turned, and her heart skipped five beats when she saw him.

There he stood, blonde hair reflecting the sunlight beautifully and green eyes as bright as ever. Her breath caught as she stumbled for nonexistent words.

"Adrien Agreste!" she said, smiling a wide, toothy smile and waving at him awkwardly. "What a pleasure it is to run into you today! I uh- I was just-" his eyes trailed down to the banner in her arms and she recoiled, shoving it behind her back.

Oh god- if she sees me with it as Ladybug then I bring it as Marinette he's going to know that I'm ladybug! "I'm just um- I'm-"

He smiled, putting his hand behind his neck, making him look unbelievably attractive in the bright sunlight.

Holy crap if he keeps doing that and not giving a single thought to how hot he looks right now I-

"Hey isn't Marinette supposed be making the banner for the ceremony?" He asked raising an eyebrow at the banner.

Ladybugs cheeks flushed. "I- well I-"

Adrien laughed. "I'm just kidding, I get it Ladybug. You're a good friend of Marinettes and you helped her with the banner. Marinette is unbelievably talented, but I cant imagine she would be able to pull something like that off alone."

Ladybug sighed in relief, but then her mind wandered to the fact that he just said-

"Marinette? Oh yeah she's super duper talented for sure," She rambled. "She reached out to me because she knows I'm super duper good with this sort of stuff and she knows how amazingly amazing I am at being super fast at taking things places you know? So yep I gotta go deliver this to her now okay bye!"

And with that she threw her yo-yo and didn't look back.

When she arrived at the town hall, everyone was already gathered around the podium, anxious to see what would happen during the election.

I cant believe I let Adrien see the poster!! Ladybug thought, mentally slapping herself. NOW HE THINKS MARINETTE IS FRIENDS WITH LADYBUG WHAT AM I GONNA D-

"Heyyy girl," a voice said cheerfully from behind her. Marinette squeaked and turned around, relieved to see Alya. "What's got your head in a knot now?"

Marinette sighed, not able to believe her own stupidity. ""Ladybug" happened to be doing a favor for Marinette and Adrien Agreste caught her in the act."Alya's eyebrows shot up. "And he wasn't suspicious?"

Marinette flinched, a white cat from a situation not-so-different than the one she had just gotten herself into flashing through her mind. She pushed those thoughts away and shook her head, plastering a smile on her face. "Nope! Not a thing." Alya raised an eyebrow, but didn't push the subject any further.

Her banner was strung over the roof of the town hall, she looked at it anxiously and cringed at her hastily added flourishes.

Being Marinette was so hard sometimes.

Mayor Bourgeois was standing to the left half of the stage, Chloe attached to his hip like a fly to a web. Marinette rolled her eyes. If anything, Chloe would have rigged the election so her dad could win just so she wouldn't lose her title as "Mayors brattiest daughter."

Marinette truthfully couldn't believe the day had arrived. Chloes father had been mayor for so long it was almost impossible to see anyone else as a runner up.

"Hey, who's running against him?" Marinette asked, suddenly realizing she hadn't been paying the slightest attention to it, even if it was constantly on the news.

She had no time for watching other news given she usually MADE news as Ladybug.

"You don't know?" Alya said, her eyes widening. "I would've thought you would be all over it, given-"

And that was it. His green eyes suddenly sticking out like the sun met hers, and so much regret and worry and anger etched itself all over his face.

Marinette gasped.

Gabriel Agreste was running for mayor.
