Once I got to the capitol, I turned off my speed skills and headed to the castle, the guards at the front didn't stop me from entering this time. I made my was down the hall, looking at the new set of skills from whatever had happened during the wave. The [Sin of Pride] gave me the ability to use [Pride boost], an add on skill that can increase the effects of other skills. I was going to try it out until I heard the sound of someone running down the halls towards me. I looked ahead and saw Melty coming over to me "Y/n, you made it back" I nodded "did you doubt me?" She looked away "I didn't I was just... concerned, that's all" I chuckled and nodded "of course Princess." She huffed and glared at me "What did I tell you" I looked at her "You want me to call you by your name, however if you are going to act all formal about your worrying, then I'm going to speak formally to you. princess." She crossed her arms and looked away. "Fine, I was worried about you. happy?" I smirked "of course, thank you for being honest Princess Melty" She pouted and looked at me "Y/n..." I pat her head "come on Mel, lets go get something to eat and drink, I feel like we are about to deal with one major issue soon." Melty looked at me "what do you mean?" we started walking down the hall "Your father ordered that Naofumi come to the castle for some reason, I doubt it's going to end in friendly conversation" She nodded and frowned "Why can't they just get along? Is it really that hard for them?" "your father is stubborn, he believes what he is doing is right. Naofumi has trust issues because of your sister so he doesn't trust anyone, especially not royals. Naofumi wont trust anyone if there is even small room for distrust, which is why he didn't want me in his party anymore."
She stared at me "Why did he have reason to distrust you?" I looked around a bit and used a skill to make sure no one was listening or watching. I rolled up my sleeve to show the bracelet of my chains. She tilted her head a bit and stared at the gem "Why would that make him not trust you" I sighed and walked over to a statue that held a spear on it and grabbed onto the spear, causing electricity to go between my hand and the spear, launching the spear away from me. Melty let out a gasp and stared at me "YOU'RE A-" I quickly covered her mouth and motioned for her to be quiet. "I'll explain more when we are in your room, I don't want anyone listening in okay?" She nodded slowly and we made our way to her room, picking up a tray of food on the way. Once we got to her room I set the tray of food on a table and shut the door, making sure no one would be able to listen in on our conversation. I sat down across from Melty and looked at her "alright, I'm trusting you with this information so you better keep it a secret okay?" She nodded at me "of course, I wont tell a single thing" I sighed and poured 2 cups of tea for us "Alright, to start off, I am not a hero. Not anymore. I used to be known as the Chain Hero" Melty stared at me "I thought there was only the 4 cardinal heroes though" I nodded and sighed "That may be true for this world, but not for other worlds" "you are from a different world?" "yes, this is the 3rd world I've existed in. I was originally from a normal world, but I was summoned as a hero at a young age." Melty nodded, waiting for me to continue "I was trained to be a hero, years before the calamity would come. I studied monster, learned to fight, was taught how to come up with plans, and I was educated on how to be a hero for their world." "so if this is your 3rd world, then the calamity had ended in the previous one?" I frowned "In a way.. yes, it ended."
"In a way?" I sighed "Do you know what the calamity is?" Melty nodded "It's the phenomenon that spawns monsters, and initiates the waves. It keeps going until all the waves are defeated" I shook my head "you are half right" "what do you mean?" I looked out the window to my right and sighed yet again "The Calamity is a war between worlds. The waves are released into 2 worlds, where heroes must defeat the monsters that keep the rifts open. The waves keep going, until one world isn't able to stop the wave. If all the heroes and allies are gone, then the waves end on the other world, but the rest of the waves begin on the other. The energy from the rifts destroys one universe, and allows the other to continue existing until too much energy is built up and another calamity begins. The surviving heroes can leave the world they were summoned to, or stay and live their lives." Melty stared at me "So, since you are in this world, does that mean your other world survived and you chose to leave?" "no. My world was destroyed. because I went into the rift to try to destroy the thing that caused the waves." "I thought you said the world wouldn't be destroyed until the heroes and allies were gone!" I looked at her "I was the only hero. I had no allies since my chains cause collateral damage if i cant control them enough. Since I was out of the world, the calamity destroyed it. Leaving only me." "oh... wait, wouldn't that mean that this world would have been destroyed since the Heroes weren't summoned till the second wave?" I shook my head "Your world probably still has an ally from a previous hero alive, and I arrived on this world during the first wave, so I technically would have counted for the hero criteria."
