Maria has been working extremely hard through out the last couple of days, trying to track down Hydra. She always wakes up early and comes home late, so you rarely get to see her when she's on missions.

Today, she headed out for a mission with Natasha and Bucky, so you knew she'd be home early since they both took their missions very seriously. You decided you wanted to surprise her by making dinner.

(Though you had absolutely no idea how to cook.) [mood.]

After at least fifty cooking tutorials on YouTube, you managed to make a decent steak with mashed potatoes, gravy and fried mushrooms on the side. (A/N: I've had it once at a posh restaurant and it was amazing.)

You set the food on the table, next to some scented candles since you wanted the night to be perfection.

Whilst waiting for Maria to come home, you scrolled through your social media on your phone with boredom.

Minutes soon turned into hours, and you were beginning to loose hope, thinking that Maria must have stayed at the tower since she probably had more work to do.

That was until you heard keys being forced into the door, as it creaked open and slammed shut. Though you were a little bit annoyed about how delayed she came home, you were still happy to see her.

"Babe!" You exclaimed, sprinting over to the door like a kid lost in a grocery store. You couldn't help but notice frustration drawn across Maria's face, when she looked up to you.

"Not now Y/N." She sighed, hanging her coat on the stand, which was next to the door. She begun to make her way upstairs, as you stood there unsure of what was wrong. You shrugged it off, and continued to call for her.

"Maria?" You questioned to her, walking into your bedroom. You notice her getting dressed for bed and letting her hair down, but still not a response from her.

"Mariaaa-" You called out to her, in attempt to pull her out of her trance.

"What." She grumbles, rolling her eyes at you. You couldn't help but frown at the sudden change in her attitude.

"Jesus Christ, Baby. Relax.. I was just trying to say that I made the both of us dinner." You explained, crossing your arms.

"Well I'm fucking busy Y/N! I actually have a job so quit being so clingy and leave me be. My life doesn't resolve around you and I'm tired for fucks sake." She snapped.

You felt your heart shatter to shards, from the words that came out of her mouth. A tear trailed down to your cheek as you took a shaky breath in.

"I-I'm sorry.." You stuttered, your voice breaking in the process, catching her attention. She quickly got up as she showed no expression other then instant regret.

"Shit- babe. I really didn't mean that! I'm sorry. It's just I had a really long day at work.." She exclaimed, rushing towards you.

She pulled you in for a hug, wrapping her arms around your waist while whispering many apologies into your ear. You were hesitant to hug back, but knew you sucked at holding grudges.

"A-Am I really clingy?" You questioned, genuinely curious to if that's what your girlfriend thought about you.

"Of course not. You're perfect I promise, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Not even me." She replied, kissing your forehead.

A/N: My phone fell on my face and my nose hurts. Send help. 😪
