HEART

Raya

I was in the middle of a perfectly good book when my door was opened. Normally I would irritatedly shout for the person to get out. However, before I could, I realised it was Namaari. Her eyes were slightly red as if she had been crying recently. Worriedly, I rushed towards her.

"Hey, are you okay?"

Namaari chuckled sadly.

"It turns out, the meetings aren't going so well. Fang is leaving tomorrow."

"Oh," I said sadly. We were having so much fun together.

I took out Namaari's Sisu necklace. "Are you sure... you don't want to keep this?"

Namaari pushed my hand back. "From one dragon nerd to another."

I looked at the necklace in my hands. Should I do it? She was from Fang, after all. Could she be trusted?

I recalled. Namaari really never did anything hostile to me. Instead, she also wanted a better world, like me.

"Hey," I touched Namaari's shoulder. "Come with me, dep la. I... wanna show you something." With that, I pulled Namaari by the hand out of my room.

Still holding Namaari by the hand, I brought her to the all-too-familiar place. The ominous lure of the cave entrance sent a few shivers down my spine. Our greatest treasure. We entered the tunnel, rounded the corner, evaded the traps and finally, I opened the door.

We walked up the stairs, and then Namaari saw it - the Dragon Gem. Its blue light in the middle of the room of darkness. Upon seeing the beautiful gem, I kneeled.

Namaari, on the other hand, could only gasp. She took a step back, astonished. "The spirit of Sisu..." she did the dragon prayer sign. "I can feel it."

I nodded. "It's the last bit of dragon magic left in the whole world!" I sneaked a glance back at her, but instead of an expression of awe and wonder, for that brief moment, I only saw a pained expression. It soon, however, turned to one that appeared so cold, so stone-like.

"I see why Heart guards it so closely..." Namaari said. "Thank you, dep la. You've been... very helpful."

Before I could respond, I felt the impact shudder against my spine.
