Part 40

A couple of weeks later,
Johnny and Gavin were the in the school gymnasium, playing basketball at lunchtime

"Yeah, like that." Johnny said, standing behind Gavin, teaching him how to throw ball properly

"You're such a jock." Gavin joked

"A jock?!" Johnny laughed as Gavin turned round to face him "How am I jock?"

They both laughed before they heard the doors close. They looked round to see Hayden and Anne whispering

"What're you doing?" Johnny asked them

Annie pushed Hayden over to him

"So, uh... what happened to that girlfriend? You know, the older one?" Hayden asked

"Oh, we, uh... we broke up."

"And why're you hanging out with the kid who she cheated with?"Hayden asked, pointing at Gavin

Johnny looked at Gavin behind him bouncing the basketball and he looked back at Hayden

"Cos we're friends."

"Look, man... we, me and Annie, we just want you know we're here. If you wanna talk about anything." Hayden told him

"Yeah, whatever." Johnny said

Hayden looked at Gavin before he turned back round and left with Annie

"Do they know about Kara?" Gavin said

"Hayden just figured it out." Johnny said as he turned round to face him "It's not exactly rocket science."

Gavin let go of the ball and it bounced away from them

"What if it gets out?! What if everyone finds out?"

"They won't!" Johnny told him

"How do you know? Your ex already knows, your friends know! How long til everyone knows?!" Gavin shouted

"Well it'll be soon if you keep shouting about everything." Johnny said "Look... no one will find out. You... we both just need to move on."

Gavin walked over to the bleachers and sat down. Johnny went over to him and sat next to him

"Trust me. No one will find out." Johnny told him "They won't tell anyone. I swear to you."

Gavin felt Johnny's hand move across his back.

Later that day,
Johnny and Gavin were walking in town after school

"I'm shit." Gavin said

"Nah, you just need practise." Johnny said, holding his basketball "Here, keep it."

"Seriously?" Gavin asked as Johnny handed him the basketball

"Yeah. I've got a couple at home."

"Hey, isn't that your ex?" Gavin asked, pointing behind Johnny

Johnny looked back and saw Kenzie and Ethan sitting on a bench in the park

"Uh, yeah."

"Lets go over." Gavin said

"No!" Johnny said as Gavin ran across the road "Gavin!"

Johnny followed him as Gavin went into the park.
Gavin went over to Kenzie and Ethan

"Uh... hi." Kenzie said

Johnny came up to them

"Hey. Uh, sorry about him." Johnny told Kenzie and Ethan
