johnnys pov:
annie gave me the keys and i drove to her house.
we got out the car and walked onto the porch and i opened her house door.
a: why is it so dark.
she says turning on the lights.
and everyone screamed "surprise!"
and annie jumped.
jay: happy birthday anns.
a: no stop you guys didn't do this.
she says smiling.

connor: annie you keep us all together we had to do something special.
c: yeah we love you.
ash: also it's so much easier when you live with two people in the group.
jay: it did make it much easier
annie laughed as she was going around and hugging all of her friends.
peeping out of the corner i saw hayden.
he hasn't really told me their progress together, but he wouldn't be here if there was none.

annie stood and talked to him for a while, she was being her friendly self so i don't know how far they've made it.
and then she walked over to me.
a: did you know about this?
j: they caught me at lunch, and told me to keep you busy.
a: so i'm guessing you don't need to be home by eight.
i shook my head and smirked a bit.
j: can we go upstairs.
a: i really shouldn't leave.

j: just for ten minutes i just want to talk to you really quick.
she nods her head and we made our way upstairs.
we sat at the top of the staircase so no one could see us.
j: well one happy birthday.
a: thank you.
she says smiling.
j: and two thank you for today.
a: you already told me that.
j: but i don't think you know how much it means to me. i haven't told anyone about the divorce, and when i told you. you were really understanding and that meant a lot to me.

a: i mean i've never been through it, but i imagine it to be hard. i would never discount your feelings and i'm sorry if anyone has or tries to do that.
j: that is pretty messed up.
a: very messed up, but remember there's always room here if you ever need a break from it all.
j: why do you keep welcoming me here?
a: what's the point of having friends if they don't have your best interest at heart or have your back. plus i kind of already told you once you're here twice, my family considers you family.
everything i said to annie was genuine.
and i hate that i'm playing her.

i looked into her hazel green eyes and she grinned at me.
i brushed her hair behind her ear and rested my hand on her cheek.
i leaned in to kiss her and to my surprise she kissed me back.
j: so when's our second date.
i said after we pulled apart.
a: goodbye johnny.
j: cmon!

i say while she stood up.
a: the conversation we had wasn't even twelve hours ago.
j: i told you something i've never told anyone,
and something about you is special to me.
a: that means a lot to me, but i still don't feel like you're ready for a relationship.
she says shrugging her shoulders.
i glared at her.
a: you can't blame me for being skeptical, three days ago a girl dumped coffee on my head because you led her on.
j: i didn't lead her on.
i said defensive.
she gives me a look back.

j: i'm not lying, i told her i didn't want strings attached and she was fine with it. i guess i'm just that good of a kisser that she changed her mind.
i say smirking.
a: well i don't want to date someone who just made out with another girl three days ago.
she says raising her eyebrows.
j: i told you i'd change.
a: johnny i don't want you to, you should be with someone who loves you for you. your flaws and all.
she says smirking a bit.
a: okay i'm going back downstairs.
j: no just a few more minutes.
a: i've already been rude enough.
she says walking down the stairs and me behind her.

c: look who finally made an appearance at her own party.
a: i'm sorry.
ash: what were you doing making out with lover boy over there.
a: yeah.
she says calmly.
no one ever pays her any attention.

jay: katie organized a scavenger hunt, and she takes them pretty serious so make sure you have your coats.
annie nods her head.
jay: it's a birthday scavenger hunt for miss jules, apparently there's a prize at the end. she says team captains are jules, caleb, hayley, and ash.
c: there are captains now.
he says sarcastically.
jay: caleb you make up rules as you go so don't start.
