This is more of a tip really and I've seen it going around for a while so I thought I'd add it in here. Kill the main character. Please?. Idk. Don't think of it as a way to break the story, no, instead think of it as a way to focus on the other characters. See how the antagonist will react, leave them thinking *did I go too far?*. Make it exciting. Make it unexpected. Surprise everyone, even the other characters. Who knows if it turns out well you could even say you already bought yourself a ticket for a sequel ;). Maybe the protagonist faked their death, maybe they come back to life, maybe they have some trauma from the afterlife. You could even go on to say how it was all planned, and that everyone wanted them to die. That they were surprised because it worked. It can put a whole different spin on the story.
Please. Kill the main character.
