I was preparing dinner for 15 year old Ian and i since Vinnie hasn't come back home yet.

Me: Ian, dinner's ready!

There was not response

Me: Ian?

I put his food on a plate and turned off the stove. I went upstairs and saw Ian crying.

Me: Ian, what's wrong?

Ian: Um, nothing

Me: Talk to me, please

Ian: Mom you won't understand

Me: Understand what sweetie?

Ian: You won't understand how it feels to be depressed! You guys never understand! I almost took my whole life away and no one knew-

Me: I know how it feels like Ian

Ian: How would you know?

Me: Because, I am also depressed. I've been like this since I was 12. I've been battling this since i was still a child. I'm 30 now. Its been 18 years. I know the feeling. The mixed emotions, and you just live for people. You hate yourself and you hate that you have to lie. I'm also depressed. I never told anyone. Not even your dad. Your dad never knew about this and I'm also living for the people that care about me because if i knew i took my own life away, they would hurt and i don't want to see them like that. I cry every night after your dad is asleep. I go out to the bridges and hills at night and no one knew. I don't want people to know because i know that i would hurt them if i ever told them. And i know that you're trying. And you're doing a very nice job. I also want my life to end but i just couldn't do it... Come here

I hugged him.

Ian: Mom, please don't tell anyone. Not even dad

Me: I won't. It's okay just let it all out.

He cried on my shoulder since he was taller than me.

Ian: Does Aunt Maddy know about you?

Me: no, not even aunt Maddy

Ian: oh

Me: Come on, let's get you dinner than we can both go out for ice cream

Ian: Okay

We let go and he wiped his tears. We went downstairs and he ate his dinner

Ian: Aren't you having anything mom?

Me: No, I'll make dinner when your dad gets home

Ian: Okay

He ate his dinner and washed his plate. We then went out to an ice cream place and got ice cream. We then walked around the park and talked

Ian: some people don't like me because in gay

Me: Youre gay?

Ian: Are you mad?

Me: no, i was born in gen z.

Ian: Oh yeah

Me: Any boys?

Ian: I like this one guy but i don't think he likes me back

Me: Get to know him and maybe he'll like you back

Ian: This isn't gen z mom

Me: Jeez, sorry

We then passed the skatepark and saw Vinnie, Kio, Jordan and Maddy.

Me: You want to go say hi to them?

Ian: A simple hi won't hurt

Me: Let's go
