Pann

Rolling over in my bed, the sunlight hits me in my eyes. Yikes! Shooting straight up in bed, I've over slept for work! Slow the row Pann; you— dear girl, are unemployed. This should cause some sort of drama or hyperventilating moment, but nope. It was a mostly restful night, after a night of some steamy love scenes with my leading man, Joven. My hormones are already heightened, buzzing through my veins, and the date is still eight hours away. My phone rings, pulling me from my hazy, dreamy memories.

"Hello?" I answer hesitantly because I don't recognize the number displayed on caller ID.

"Hello, is this Pannikin L. Charity?" So official, maybe I won a lottery, but I don't play, so poof on that thought!

"Yes, speaking. Can I help you?" I ask to my mystery female person.

"This is accounting at Meridith's Moments, and we have your final check. Our phone systems were down, so I had to use my personal cell to call you. What time is good for you to come by and pick it up?" she adds.

Pick it up? Seriously! If I touch it, I may be tempted to shove it into the nearest person, hopefully, while they are bent over.

"Can you please just mail it?" I ask.

"If that's what you prefer."

Yes, it's what I prefer little Ms. I Still Have a Job! My silence must have been enough of an answer for her because she paused and then just kept going. She could probably hear my deep breathing.

"Okay, so I'll just put that in the snail mail tomorrow and you should receive it in a few days. Have a nice day, Ms. Charity," and she hangs up.

Well, now I'm very awake and just lying in bed. Move Pann, because there is a funnel cake being held by a sexy guy in your future. That's enough to get me out of bed, showered, and doing my daily chores. I could work on updating that résumé? Nah. I've got a hot date planned for tonight, and I'm going to pamper myself all day to get ready. Pedicure, manicure, and shaving... everything a girl needs.

I feel like a teenager on her first date, which is odd because I've dated before. I enjoy spending time with guys, but at the end of every date, when it's time for that magical moment, they would lean in for that end-of-date kiss, and I'd turn my head and give them my cheek. They promise they will call for another date, my phone remains silent. I just consider myself lucky. My friends encourage me to relax and just get my "first" for everything over with, but I've drummed it up in my mind to gigantic expectations. So, I go day by day waiting for that first kiss and stamp in my V-card.

Time actually goes by faster than expected, and before long I'm wearing a yellow dress that just barely touches my knees, some cute sandals, and my hair in a ponytail. Transferring some essentials from my purse to a smaller handbag, I check myself out in the mirror, and deem myself ready to rock Joven's world.

Locking my apartment door behind me, and turning the stink eye towards Mrs. Knobsview's door, I silently dare her to tamper with the handle again today. I hurry down the steps, as we have no elevator in the converted old home, and reach the park quickly.

The area is full, and is seems all of Burlap has showed up for the summer concert. I'm scanning the park for him when my eyes rest on the sexiest blonde-haired guy sitting on a blue blanket, a funnel cake next to him, and something in his hands. My eyes connect with his- SNAP! Slap me in a slingshot! Yep, the static electricity feeling is still there.

"Hi Joven! I see you're early also;" wow! Great opening line Pann. "I wanted to make sure I could find you before the music started," I rush through saying, due to being so nervous.
