Daniel was stood by the desk as I walked in carrying the pile of files. He dashed to me and grabbed the files placing them on the desk, "please don't strain yourself. You're still recovering," he pulled out the desk chair for me. After Alistair got shot I had had constant nightmares, one a few nights ago I'd managed to claw down my own arms. "Maybe you could take a break for a few days although as I'm saying it I know you wouldn't." He leaned in kissing my forehead before heading for the door. "Coffee?" He asked in the doorway looking back at me with a small smile playfully on his lips. I nodded watching him go. I felt okay, like I'd almost come to terms that the nightmares might not stop ever. I just wanted to keep my mind focused on things I could sort, things I could control.
A pile of paperwork began vibrating, shifting sheets of paper until a corner of my phone appeared. I pulled it out and answered it. "Hello?"
"Hiya, it's Becca" she sounded very happy on the other end.
"Hey any news on the best patient in the world?" I asked sarcastically.
She laughed "he's doing well, in fact they're going to discharge him. On one condition that is. The director and his doctor and me really have agreed he needs to stay elsewhere than the base. So I sort of suggested asking you for him to stay there with you."
"And how did he feel about that?" I asked cautiously.
"He's up for it. He won't be allowed to do any work however the director knows him well enough to know he won't like sitting doing nothing so for this occasion only Puck has been asked to do the field work for him. If it hadn't been for the current situation the director would have never agreed but it was actually mostly his idea." She sighed "it worries me more that he's worrying."
"Well we'd be happy to have him here, I'll set up one of the spare rooms." Daniel came in with two coffees at that point. "Becca is saying about Alistair staying here while he's....why are you grinning?"
With a huge grin on his face Daniel explained "I kind of already knew. I've sorted the room out too," he handed me one of the coffees.
To Becca I said "well that settles it we will see you both soon."
"Yes we will be there in time for that meeting with Puck, it'll be good to see us all together again."
We said our goodbyes and after I'd hung up I sighed "I'd forgotten about them coming." I then grinned up at Daniel "so which room did you sort for him?"
"My old room seeing as we've been uh..." he blushed bending down to kiss my forehead.
He had been sharing my bed seeing as I was suffering so much with the nightmares. We almost forgotten to clarify what we were now. I did hope he saw us as a couple now.
