Downing another espresso I laughed along with Bea who was on the other end of the phone. She was picking out colours to paint the alpha bedroom, so far the colour scheme was mainly greens. "It all sounds good, glad you're keeping them in check" I laughed along with her.
"So how's work?" She asked.
Looking around at the stacks of files containing new and old cases, that I was desperately trying to see connections I replied "uh not brilliant but hey trying to make the best of it."
"Yeah, did you see the announcement?" She asked referring to Cameron announcing the date for the referendum vote.
"Uh yeah, not good but hey maybe it won't turn out bad" I had felt sick watching Cameron's speech. At least I could count on the future I had with the pack now. "Hey can you do me a favour?"
"Yeah sure hun, what do you need?" She asked cheerfully.
"Are you near Daniel? It's just the favour kind of involves him, like a surprise for him" I explained.
"Oooh," I could hear her practically running down the stairs. "Right I'm alone what can I do for you for lover boy?"
"Okay don't get too excited it's more of a formal thing really anyway, because technically the pack needs to register me as the new Alpha and" I didn't want her to verbally get too excited. "I'd like to also formally make Daniel my partner. Also give Felix Beta title."
Hearing her suppress an excited squeal then breath "so what would you like me to do for it?"
"I need some beers, you know the kind Daniel likes and pizza and that cheesecake from that pastry place. Also I want something to give him but I'm not sure exactly what."
"Leave it to me, but quick question is this like proposing gift or just a thank you or something?" She asked. Thinking for a few moments I came to the realisation that I did want to propose but, "it's not too soon. Look I don't need to be next to you to know what you're thinking, plus think how much that twat of a cousin of mine will hate seeing you happy and very much over him."
I groaned "over him isn't the way I'd describe how I exactly feel."
"Yeah but he won't know," she was right.
"Anyway if you're okay sorting those things for me for when I'm back on Friday evening that would be great," I changed the subject not wanting to leap headfirst down the rabbit hole that was my current emotions.
"Leave it to me boss," she answered back. We chatted a little longer about the design she was going for in the room, then hung up. Now with a refreshed sense of purpose I stood up and picked up the file on top of the 'new case' pile and began reading through while pacing back and forth across my room.
