Coffee and chocolate

Muffins and heartache

Crumpets and tea

Biscuits and memories.

I sit here in the table

In the corner of the quaint

Coffee shop on the last street

Of our hometown.

The window is covered in snowflakes

The path outside is filled with snow.

It is a lovely day

But it's not lovely for me.

I sit here in the corner

Lost in memories of us

We were beautiful,

Weren't we?

The sparks, the energy

The love, the warmth

The intimacy

But it wasn't enough, was it?

I did everything

I could to stop you

But you were gone

Before I could

Tell you the truth.

You are on the other side of earth now.

How can I tell you that what you saw wasn't the truth.

You saw me sitting in this

Quaint coffee shop

Waiting for you.

You saw me get up

And leave the table.

You saw me leave the shop.

You could have come over

And asked me

Where I was going.

It would have saved us

The tears

The heartache

The heartbreak.

But no,

You made assumptions and left

And took a part of me with you.

I wasn't betraying you.

I wasn't lying to you.

I wasn't the traitor or

The liar in our relationship.

No, that was you.

Once you left, I saw all the signs

Of another girl in our apartment.

I was blinded by the so called

Love you showered on me

That I ignored all

The warning bells

And the red flags

Going off in my brain.

As I sit here

In this quaint coffee shop

I realize that you and I were

Never meant to be.

You go your way

And I'll go mine

You find your love

And I'll find mine.
