"Don't worry that little head of yours, Y/n, Midnight's your mama now." Midnight grinned ear to ear as she shoved her credit card into the former's hands. The two stood in front of a mall, much to Midnight's enjoyment and Y/n's dismay.

"Did you seriously just refer to yourself in third person?" Y/n tsk'd in faux disappointment, a small smirk playing at her lips before it disappeared as she went back to staring at the mall in awe.

"Huh. So you do have a sense of humor."

               "Wasn't joking." Y/n shrugged.

"Hey!" Midnight gaped at the girl, before noticing how entranced the girl was with the mall, it wasn't too big, or anything out the ordinary, it was just a regular mall, but Y/n was reacting to it as if it were the next big thing. "You've never been shopping before, have you?"

"No. Not like this." Y/n's eyes trailed around every last detail she could train her eyes on. From the kids corner on the left filled to the brink with toys to the gaming store to the right with video games up for display that customers could test out. This shopping mall was a sensory overload.

"Yeah. You must be thrown into cultural shock right now." Midnight pursed her lips to the side before grinning again, "But hey! We need to find you your own style, you seriously cannot keep walking around like this." Midnight motioned to Y/n's outfit. She was still decked out head to toe in Aizawa's clothing being as she was dragged straight from UA to the mall the second she had stepped foot outside of the school.

               "My style?"

               "Yeah, like, something that's you."

               "Something that's me?"

"Are you just going to continue repeating and questioning everything I say?" Midnight sweat dropped and Y/n nodded slowly, indicating that as long as she was confused, she would continue. "Something that's you is like... something that just feels right. Something you want, doesn't matter what Aizawa or I tell you. No matter what anyone says it just feels like you. It's your own unique style that you can be comfortable in."

Y/n bobbed her head slowly to indicate she understood, which she did to a certain degree, but not enough to go off shopping on her own, she truly had no idea what was going on and diving into a mall head first without being advised before hand didn't seem like a good way to be introduced to this modern world.

"You look lost." Midnight pouted as Y/n's nods grew quicker at that. She placed her hands on her hips, shifting her weight between her feet, "You mentioned being from the year 850. I'm assuming you didn't have much liberty in what you wore, right?"

Y/n nodded once again, this time adding a small 'yes'. She mostly wore the Scouts uniform all day, and at night she'd wear a night gown (or occasionally one of Eren's shirts if she knew nobody—especially not the captain—was going to find her like that). The few times she got to actually wear whatever she wanted, it was the exact same thing as every other woman of her time. Dress-like tunics, or kirtles made of wool or undyed linen, a shirt beneath her tunic, a lace-up bodice.

"Well then, consider this a taste of freedom!" Midnight claimed with that sickeningly sweet smile on her face, not noticing the weight of her words that had caused a pang to hit Y/n's chest.

Y/n shook it off, deciding that maybe she needed to take her caregiver's constant advice of not letting her negative thoughts drive her.

"Ok. How do I know when something is 'me'?" Y/n asked, emphasizing the last word while also using air quotation marks.

"Hm... I guess we'll just have to try everything out." Midnight gave her another award-winning smile before wrapping her hand around Y/n's wrist and pulling her to start adventuring through the mall.

Y/n let the middle-aged woman drag her into each and every store until both of them were carrying at least ten bags each. Y/n didn't have the heart to tell Midnight that she probably wouldn't stay long enough to even wear all these clothes—well she did—she had just decided to keep every comment of hers in her head unless it was to affirm rather or not she liked an article of clothing she had tried on.

Y/n looked down to her hands for a split second to adjust the handle of the bag that had begun to create stinging red marks on her wrist. Unfortunately for her, that split second was all it took for someone to bump into her and cause the bag she was moving around to fall on the ground, all the contents inside spilling out.

Y/n looked up at the source of what had hit her, but she could barely catch a glimpse. It was a person, they were wearing dark shades and a mask covering the bottom portion of their face. Y/n found that quite odd, but what she found even weirder was that as she watched the back of their head as they walked away, a chill ran down her spine. They were blond, and seemed cut in a way she recognized. Y/n tried thinking long and hard on who that person could've been, but coming to the conclusion that it was probably a total stranger, she let it go.

She turned back to the ravenette that had bent down to pick up what had fallen. "Tsk. Didn't even say sorry or excuse me? What a gentleman those parents of his raised him to be."

Y/n shrugged it off, taking the bag from the adult as they began walking out again, the encounter soon being forgotten.
