Amnesia (-fic) 

Refers to stories in which a character (or perhaps all of them!) loses their memory, either in whole or in part, for one reason or another. It is an excellent way to explore new dynamics among the characters, also acting as a way to get an outside perspective without introducing any new characters. Usually, but not always, the amnesiac will regain their memories before the end of the story.
