Chapter 10 - My New Family

~Lexine~

An hour later.

We stopped in front a river. According to Jack, the Alpha of Midnight pack is supposed to be waiting for us here. With Tay still in my arm, Sky and I sat down by the river, waiting for something to happen. It felt strange to hold a dead little girl. I mentally slapped myself, It sounded wrong. I gently laid her next to me on the sand.

"Are you hungry?" I asked Sky. She shook her head.

I heard a footstep which made me turn around. Four dangerously hot men standing in front of us. But only one that caught my attention. His midnight black hair and silver grey eyes were
mesmerising. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. My breath hitched at the sight of the man right in front of me. I am guessing he is the Alpha.

"Uncle Damien!" Sky cried and ran towards him. Damien, as she called him, bent down and picked her up, hugging her in a tight embrace. I got up and stood there. Not sure what to do.

"It's okay Sky, I am here now." Damien whispered in her ear, but loud enough for me to hear.

"Ahm.." I coughed nervously while biting my lips and fidgeting with my nails. Suddenly 4 pairs of eyes landed on me. My cheek burned under those their gaze.

"So," Damien, the 6 feet 4 inch Greek God approached me after letting go of Sky. She followed suite. I look so small before him. I am only 5 foot 5 inches tall.
"You must be..." He gave a quick scan from my head to toe. As if my cheek couldn't turn any redder. I am sure he didn't mean to look at me in such way, I am underage afterall, and he is probably in his mid 20's.
"Lexine", I replied. His gaze landed back on my eyes.

"Welcome to the Midnight pack territory. I am Damien by the way. And that's my beta Roy. Those are the idiot twins Drake and Lane." He gestured his hand towards them.

"Well hello there!" said one of the twins, I couldn't really tell the difference so I am still not sure which one is who. He has a huge grin plastered on his face. But that grin wiped out immediately when the twin number 2 smacked his head. They are young, probably still in high school, and they took no offence to the fact that Damien just called them idiot.

"Ouch what the hell was that for?!" Twin number 1 groaned.

"That's for flirting with her. Beside that is supposed to be me. I mean admit it I am the better looking one than this moron here, right Lexine?" I couldn't help but laugh at the twin's stupidity.
"You both look the same to me!" I said. They are just too cute.

"So?" I quickly turned to Damien.

"Uh huh! I mean yeah, it's nice to meet you Alpha. And you three as well." I bowed my head to show respect. He nodded.

"Nice to meet you Lex" Roy, who Damien said was his beta, said. "If you need any assistant anytime, let me know. I will try to help if I am not busy with the Alpha."

Roy seemed like a nice guy, and appeared to be gentle in nature. Unlike Damien, Roy has light green eyes and brown hair. He is as tall as Damien.

I bit my lips, "Thank you Roy."

After a few awkward moments, I decided to break the silence.

"Umm.... About Tayler." I pointed at Taylers lying body. His eyes snapped at where I was pointing. His eyes widened in horror.

"Tayler!" He let out a shrill growl and ran towards her. He was there beside her in a second due to his inhuman speed and strength. I didn't miss that a single tear rolled down his perfectly sculpted cheeks. After a few seconds, he turned back to look me. "How did this happen?!" He growled. Eyes red with anger, sadness and so many mixed emotions. I flinched.

"Uncle please calm down." Sky ran towards us. "I will explain."

Back at the Midnight Pack's house.

"I can't thank you enough Lexine. For saving Sky." Damien spoke softly. After we reached the pack house, Sky told her everything that happened. After Tay's proper funeral, we all sat in the main hall.

The hall is nicely decorated with both modern and vintage aesthetic touch. A mix of both style made it unique.

"It was nothing Alpha. I did what I had to do. I would do anything to stop anyone hurting others. Beside I am the one who should be thanking you, for accepting me."

Damien smiled. A dangerously gorgeous smile I should add. I wonder how they would feel against mine... oh stop checking him out Lex! You shouldn't think of him that way. He probably has a mate and there is no way he would like me. Beside you shouldn't be attracted to him either. He is not your mate. Alex is, or was your one and only mate.

"Call me Damien please."

I bit my lips and then smiled, "Damien it is."

"Well I guess it's time for you to clean up and get changed." Said Damien. "Percy!" He shouted.

"Coming!" a girl's voice rang through the hall. I heard a footstep and saw a beautiful girl came running towards the stairs. A sudden jealousy hit me. She is really pretty. She must be Damien's mate. But I was wrong.

"You called me brah?"

Did she just say "bruh"? I couldn't help but chuckle.

"Uh yes. Pershia this is Lex. Lex this is Pershia Lively Carter. My sister and she's 14."

So Carter is their last name, hmm not bad.

Percy frowned at his brother. "Jeez Damien, no need to spell out my super long name."

She turned at me and smiled, "Nice to meet you Lex! You can call me Percy. Or Liv if you want. I can tell we will be best friends!" I chuckled at her enthusiastic nature and friendliness. No doubt she has "Lively" as her middle name. Even though she is 14 (but to me looked at least 16), she appear to be more mature in both appearance and attitude, which I think is a great quality to have.

"I like your name, it's unique. Anyway it's nice to meet you to Liv... or Percy." I laughed. "Hard to choose, I like both names". Maybe I will interchange them.

I looked at her carefully and realized she and Damien had a lot in common. They both have the beautiful silver coloured eyes and their facial structure is kind of the same. I shook my head for jumping to conclusion that this she was Damien's mate.

Stop thinking so selfishly Lex.

But that didn't guarantee me that his mate is not somewhere here! I sighed. Why am I getting so jealous? I just met this guy an hour ago and it has to be illegal to think this way.

"Anyways come with me. Let me show you to your room." Liv said excitedly dragged me out of there. We walked up the stairs and down a small corridor. This place must have lots of room! Just like my old place...

"So this is your room." Liv said and opened a door. I gasped at the sight.

"Is-is that my room?!" My eyes were probably the size of saucers. I didn't expect this honestly.

Liv chuckled. "Hehe yeah. You don't like it? I personally chose this room for you. I hope its okay."

"Like it?" I cried. "I love it!" The giant room with cream coloured wall and a queen sized bed in the middle. A small couch in the corner and a desk with a laptop and a printer set on it. I momentarily looked at the room. Is that a build in robe? Wow! I ran towards the door which I suppose is the bathroom. I opened and let out a small gasp. It's beautiful. A very large modern bathroom.

This room is amazing! Not to mention the decoration and show pieces. This place is definitely decorated by a professional designer. How rich are these people? What do they do?
I felt tears welled up my eyes. Never have I thought I would get to sleep in a room like this.

"Oh Liv this is too much! Thank you soo much!"

"That's alright! We have a lot to shop. For your dresses."

"You really are going to spoil me for sure." I grinned.

Liv grinned back, "Go on! go take a shower. At least now I have someone to spoil", she pouts, "My brother is just no fun. I am like the only girl in this house and I am so glad that another girl will join my team! We can pull all sorts of pranks on the twins."
I laughed. This is great. I am already feeling like home. Maybe this is where I belong. Maybe I am worthy, maybe I have a second chance at life. I am not ashamed of myself anymore.


~Alex~

"Alex let's go inside. You have to eat something." My mom said and tried to take my hands. I growled lowly. I focused my eyes at the fountain in the backyard which I had been staring at for the past 5 hours. This is the fountain where Lex and I used to play when we were children, probably 4 or 5.

"She's out there somewhere mom! I have to find her!" I said looking around as if she would magically appear.

"And how are you going to do that when you die from starvation?" My mom hissed. I looked at her with sad eyes. I want Lex back. I haven't been able to sleep or eat ever since she disappeared.

"I am sorry mom." I said, my voice cracking. Her expression softened and she wrapped her arms around me and kissed my forehead.

"Let's get you home and clean up. You look like a mess. Despite what you did, you are still my child and I can't watch you go through this." My mom said softly. I probably did look like a complete mess. I am in a complete mess. My life is mess. Scratch that, I AM a mess.

Now that everyone knows, I am more than embarrassed to even look at anyone. Well it could have been worse but everyone was a part of it so they can't exactly blame me.
Right now I am not in a position to become the Alpha either. I am too worn out.

I sighed as I visualized Lex. This was not supposed to happen. Lex is not meant to leave without me. We were supposed to run away together. Far from here.


~Unknown POV~

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN NOT TRACK HER DAMN IT?!" A voice pierced through the darkness.

The man before him winched. "I am sorry sir, I myself am not sure how that is possible."

The man was suddenly pushed up against the wall. He whimpered in fear.

"This is what I have been waiting for, for 10 bloody years! And you let that slip?" The voice yelled again. "As soon she was out of that pack's territory, you are supposed to bring her to me! Did you not keep an eye on her?"

"I-She got away Alpha. She didn't even take public transport and we are not sure where she headed."

"YOU BLOODY IDIOT! I gave you a simple job and you failed me" The man said in a thick accent. All I asked you to do is to keep an eye on her. Keep track on when and where she goes and once she is out of bounds, bring her back to me! Why do you think I made her whole pack and family to hate her so much? So that she could get away from their protection damn it! I knew I should have done this simple job myself! Look what have you done!" his eyes glowed dark sick yellow.

He let go of the man. "Now get the hell out of here! You are a disgrace to the Dark Shadow pack."

The man calmed down. He is not angry anymore. He is sure that wherever she is, she will come back. 'I will just have to wait for the perfect opportunity to strike the Dawn pack.' He emphasized the 'Dawn Pack' with venom.
