Chapter 11

Lily's POV

"Hey heyyyy" Telly calls as she walks into my bedroom.

"Hey, whatcha got for me?" I ask jumping onto my bed.

"I got caramel chocolate and kettle popcorn" She tosses the bag of goodies to me and takes off her shoes before sitting down next to me.

"Ok now what do you have for me?" she asks and I already know she isn't asking about snacks.

"I went to work, tolerated people, saw Colin, tolerated some more-"

"You saw Colin?" she asks cutting me off.

"Yeah, he came by to get some coffee, we ended up making plans to-"

"YOU WHAT!? Omg finally a date, I gotta tell Danny so he-" she cuts me off again but this time I cut her off too.

"It's not a date and why you gotta yell in my ear dude," I say rubbing my ear.

"Is it just you guys?" she asks

"Yes, I think so"

"Did he say he was gonna pick you up?"

"Yeah but that doesn't make it a date," I say with confusion. I've been on dates and not gotten picked up before. Besides Colin didn't say it was a date.

"Oh honey, it's a date," she says looking me in the eyes.

"No it's not"

"Yes it is"

"No"

"Yes"

"No"

"Yes and I'll prove it by calling and asking" she quickly grabs her phone and dials his number before I can even take the phone from her.

I reach up to grab it but he has already answered and she already moved away from me. With her phone on speaker, I can hear when Colin says "Hey Tell, what's up?"

"Hey cuz, so I had a question for ya," she says with a teasing voice.

"So I hear you are taking Lily on a date tomorrow, is this true?" she asks as I start waving my hands like a maniac trying to get her to stop.

"Umm yeah, why?" He says like it was obvious. I stop waving my arms and my eyes go wide.

It really is a date?

"Just making sure you treat my best friend right. Don't try to run her over this time" They both laugh for a second before she ends the call. I am still stuck in the same position of disbelief.

"Not to be that person but uh I told you so" she giggles sitting back on the bed.

"Hey you ok?" she asks me when she notices that I haven't moved.

" I- I can't go," I say as I look at her. The need to cry is growing with every passing second.

"What? Why not?" she asks.

"I- I ju- I just can't" A single tear falls from my eyes. Telly sees and wraps her arms around me. I feel ridiculous crying right now. I should be happy I have a date, but I'm not.

After a few minutes, I stop crying and wipe my tears. Telly gives me a sad smile.

"Lil, Colin is different. He isn't like-"

"Please don't say it. I just can't do it. I'll let him know in a little but I just can't go, ok?"

About an hour later I have worked up the courage to text Colin and Cancel. I feel like the worst person ever and I probably am. I should have realized he was asking me on a date, I'm so stupid. This isn't fair to him but I'm sure he will be ok.

I just can't. Not yet.
