"so do you usually cook ?" David asked as he helped Ryan out in the kitchen while Stephanie went upstairs to finish her homework

"Yeah I usually cook dinner and breakfast everyday" Ryan shrugged

"Also you got any allergies I should know about " Ryan added David took a second to think

"Nah I'm good .. " David said and Ryan nodded

"Wait you cook breakfast and dinner ?" David asked almost impressed While ryan just shrugged

"Yeah since mom works 12 hour shifts and dad doesn't come home till it's already dinner time it's easier this way " Ryan said and David just hummed along

"What do they do ?" David asked

"Mom's a nurse who usually does night shifts so she leaves the house around 7 and comes back in the morning at 7 and somedays she even takes extra shifts because she likes to torture herself" Ryan said shaking his head

"And dad works at a tech company he leaves early morning and comes back around 9;30" Ryan added

"Woah .. that's a lot of work.. they must be tired" David said and Ryan nodded

"Yeah why else do you think I cook ?" Ryan said chuckling making David nod along Smiling

"Can someone help me with my homework" another annoyed voice joined making the two boys look towards the entrance

"Sure I'll help you out " David said and Ryan shook his head

"You should do your own homework you know" Ryan said

"As if you don't copy all your friends homework ! someone called Sam helps you doesn't he ?" Stephanie replied

"How do you even know that?" Ryan asked confused making David chuckle

"You're loud " Stephanie said before dragging David out of the kitchen which David readily complied to

They were all sitting around the dinner table David was sitting rather awkwardly infront of the empty plate as Ryan finished putting all the food on the table

"So you're David" Ryan and Stephanie's father asked smiling

"Yes dad this is David a friend from school " Ryan said now serving everyone food

"Oh nice nice you look like you know like you work out " their father laughed awkwardly

"Uh.. that's maybe because I'm in the track team" David said awkwardly

"Oh please dad he's the captain .. " Ryan added making David hit him under the table

"And he's smart too" Steph added making David run his hands through his hair awkwardly

"Oh wow that's amazing Maybe you should learn something from him then Ryan !" Their father said

"Yeah yeah eat your food " Ryan said sitting down after he was done serving

"Teach him a few things would you David maybe then he'll get into a good college" their father said making Ryan roll his eyes

"I'm sure he'll get into a great College sir " David said making Ryan look towards him with a rather soft smile

"I'll take your word for it then" their father laughed making everyone laugh along
