A/n: This is going to be part one of a fairytale AU one-shot where Kanao is a flower fairy and Tanjiro is a sun elf.
Four Years Ago:
A young boy (or elf, you could say) slept on the trunk of a sakura tree, his redish-brown coloredhair flowing with the wind. His face adorned a carefully carved fox mask, covering his features. On his earlobes were a pair of hanafuda earrings. Besides the boy was a small fire dragon, it too was sleeping, puffs of smoke coming out of it'snostrils.
Suddenly, the dragon woke up from it's slumber, as if sensing something. It stood up in alert, glancing in all directions before it's eyes landed on a girl (or fairy) with a side pony tail held up by a butterfly clip. The dragon roared, or rather squeaked, since it was so tiny. The boy with the fox mask had also woken up and the dragon flew over to the girl and started to sniff her.
"Ryu, come back!" The boy called, running over to his pet dragon, who immediately stopped bothering the girl and flew away.
"I'm very sorry about my dragon." he apologized to the young girl with the butterfly hair ornament. "Wait, you are not a elf, what are you doing here?"
The girl took out a coin and flipped it, it landed on tails and she remained silent.
"Why are you flipping a coin?" The boy questioned.
The girl flipped the coin again, this time it landed on heads.
"I use this coin to decide on things I'm not ordered to do, sayonara" She replied and began to walk away.
"Wait! Why don't you decide for yourself?"
The girl turned around and said: "Nothing matters to me, so I can't decide for myself, sayonara"
"But I don't think that there's anything in this world that doesn't matter! I guess maybe the voice in your heart is just very tiny!" he closed his eyes and thought for a second.
"Can I borrow the coin for a moment?" He asked after a while.
"Ok......" She said unsurely, while handing him the coin.
"Thanks," He said "Ok, I'm going to toss this coin to decide!"
"To decide what?" The girl asked.
"Whether or not you are going to follow your heart!" He answered happily as he tossed the coin into the sky.
"Ahhh!! I tossed it a bit too high! But let's make it heads, if it comes up heads, you will have to follow your heart!" He shouted as the coin landed on the back of his hand.
He walked closer to the girl. "Are you ready?" he asked.
The girl nodded and he uncovered his hand.

"Yay, it's heads!" The boy shouted.
Even though the girl couldn't see his face, she knew he was smiling.
"How did you get it to be heads?" The girl questioned.
"By chance, and if it was tails, I would flip it over and over again until it comes up as heads!" He answered. "Anyone should be allowed to decide for themselves, and that includes you, umm....." he scratched the nape of his neck
"Kanao, is my name."
"And that includes you Kanao." He smiled, even though she couldn't see.
"Can I see your face?"
"Sorry, but sun elves cannot show their faces to others, unless it is another sun elf......"
"Oh" Kanao sounded very disappointed. "But what if we meet in the future, and you recognize me but I don't recognize you?"
"It's OK, me recognizing you is enough, after all, who would forget someone like you?"
Kanao blushed and looked down.
"Anyways, I better get going now, or else Urokodaki-san will kill me! Bye Kanao, it was nice meeting you!" He yelled as he started to run down the path.
"Thank you, Bye-"
Then she realized that she did not know his name.
"Wait, what is your name?!" She yelled, but he was too far to hear.
End of flashback
Ok, the flash back was originally only supposed to be only 100 words long, but it ended up being 600 words long, so I decided to split this one-shot into to parts. How do you guys like it so far?
