"So don't be nervous, everything will be fine," Alya said to Marinette the next morning. They were both in her room, getting her ready for school.

"I'm just worried about all of the work I've missed," Marinette murmured. "I'm going to be so behind."

"You'll catch up soon enough, girl." Alya helped her pack up her bag, then she smiled at her. "Oh my gosh, I almost forgot!" she said excitedly. But then she stopped, her eyes widening as she realized what she just said. "I... I'm sorry, what a terrible thing to say to someone who lost their memory. I didn't mean it like that..."

"Don't worry," Marinette chuckled. "I'm not offended."

She smiled in relief. "Well, you'll be happy to hear that Adrien has been really concerned about you since you've been out of school."

Marinette looked over at her. "Who's Adrien?"

Alya almost dropped her bag. Then she exhaled as she met her gaze. "Very funny Marinette. I already said that I'm sorry about the 'forgetting' comment."

She tilted her head. "I... I'm not joking. Who is he?"

A moment passed by in silence as Alya blinked at her. "Adrien."

Marinette didn't respond.

"Adrien," Alya tried again, emphasizing the word.

She slowly shook her head.

"Adrien!" she yelled, like it was obvious. "Adrien! Come on, you remember Adrien! You said that you remember the first day of school!"

Taken aback, Marinette furrowed her brow. "Uh yeah, the first day of school. I remember."

"Then you remember Adrien!" Alya concluded.

She looked to the side in thought. "Oh wait... Adrien. Now I remember."

Alya relaxed. The universe was back in order.

"Chloé mentioned him that morning," Marinette continued. "That's why she needed my seat, so she could sit behind him. But, but he never showed up."

And the universe was out of kilter again.

"Oh my gosh, that's right," Alya said quietly. "He didn't start school until the next day. So you wouldn't remember him."

Marinette smiled, happy that they figured out the situation. "So uh, he's a student in our class?"

A pause. "Yeah."

"Oh okay, well I guess I'll meet him today then. Are you ready to go?"

"Yeah," Alya repeated as she followed, dazed by the turn of events. And she remained silent while the two walked together to the school building.

Nino was outside waiting for them. "Hey Marinette!" he said with a big smile. "Welcome back!"

Marinette smiled. "Thanks Nino. It's great to see you again."

The three made their way inside.

"How's your head feeling?" Nino asked while they climbed the stairs to their classroom.

"Totally normal. It doesn't hurt at all."

"That's awesome. Did you really lose your memory though?"

She nodded. "Yeah, the whole year is completely gone. I guess nothing too exciting happened," she joked.

"She doesn't remember Adrien," Alya finally said to Nino.

He stopped walking. "She doesn't remember Adrien?" he asked Alya incredulously. Then he turned back to Marinette. "You don't remember Adrien?"

She glanced between them. "Uh, no."
