Dave was sleeping soundly on the couch, something he was constantly doing since being stuck on a flying rock with a Psycho chalk eating ex, a juggalo, and two lesbian xenophiles, one of which was his sister. Nothing strange about these arrangements at all. Oh, and let's not forget about nubs Mc shouts, his favorite member on the meteor hurling through space.

His thoughts couldn't help but to repeat the short troll through his mind, his lips turning into a small smile in his what was sleeping state but now was distant grogginess.

It wasn't even night time when he had decided to take this nap, he wasn't even sure if the basic laws of night and day existed here, but with nothing else to do but alchemize bad apple juice (how it was bad was a mystery) and make can town with the mayor, who was totally rad, he decided nap time was a good time now.

Even though he was only half asleep he could hear the distant footsteps growing closer by the minute, feet stomping against pavement that could only be recognized as the leader himself.

Karkat Mc shouts Vantas.

The short troll was making rounds, as if he was still in charge when technically the humans had somehow taken that role when they joined. It was safe to say he despised them, except Rose who just vaguely annoyed him because she and Kanaya where an obvious thing he distasted but at some point had just grown to accept. Dave should also be included into the despise section, but that also jumped about.

Who was he kidding? Deep down the self conscious prick liked them as friends, Dave was still an indecisive figure in the whole thing.

Circles outlined the trolls eyes, making it obvious karkat hadn't slept in the longest of time, truthfully actually scared to sleep and even alone at that, so he was very reluctant to get any shut eye, and even more so reluctant to ask anyone to join him. That was his moirails job, one his moirail was apparently a failure at. ‎

Karkat had planned on originally crashing on the couch, but when he saw that Dave was already there, he decided against it, not wanting to barge in on the others obvious nap time. Not only that, but the human annoyed him. He just couldn't stand him.

Karkat almost walked away before the pros flooded his mind. He may dislike the human, but that didn't chance his physical interest in him. Thinking he wouldn't get caught, he studied Daves features. He admired the way his light blond hair waved over his face, how it clashed with his freckled white skin.

The glasses bothered him.

"Jegus Dave, you're going to break your shades if you sleep with them on like a dumb-ass." Karkat mumbled, slipping them off his face and placing them on the coffee table besides the couch.

"Wow man, wow. Not the shades, you know this already." Dave spoke up, a sigh escaping from his lips as a hand flew up and covered his features, replacing the shades as a new and less transparent armor.

Sure he and the troll had some things in common what with mutantcy and such, but he wasn't ready for that conversation. He hadn't prepared himself for that talk yet.

Karkat jumped in shock from Daves voice, letting out a squeak. He fell over and looked up at the human as his hand reached out and grasped his knee. Blushing, he shoved Daves hand away and reached for his shades, hesitantly giving them to him. "WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL WITH THEM ANYWAYS? WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU ALWAYS WEARING THESE WHEN YOU HAVE NO REASON TO?" Karkat wouldn't tell Dave he removed his shades hoping to get a peak at them when he awoke but he knew Dave would kill him, so he didn't say anything. He was extremely curious about the humans eye color and he just knew something was up. He stood back up and sat in the little space left on the couch, his backside touching Daves waist.
