Logan's POV

"All right, campers! Enough beauty sleep! Time to show us what you're made of!" Chris's voice screeched over the loudspeaker. Lucky for me, I was already up, writing in my journal.

"Are we ever gonna get to sleep in?" Katie whined, placing a pillow over her face.

I closed my journal. "Knowing Chris, I'd say no," I responded, sliding the notebook underneath my pillow before hopping off of my bed.

After getting dressed and refreshed in the communal washrooms, I headed over to the stage where the rest of the crew was going.

"Good morning, vertically challenged," Duncan greeted me as I sat next to him in a row of bleachers.

"I guess now that we're best friends, I should probably ask you how your hip is, huh?" he questioned, glancing down.

"It's your choice." I shrugged.

"Well, how's your side, bruiser?" Duncan motioned to my hip as we waited for the rest to pile into the amphitheater.

Because of the last challenge, a huge bruise formed on my hip. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt, but it was nauseating to look at.

"It still looks like a rotting banana," I half-laughed.

"Welcome to our brand new deluxe state-of-the-art outdoor amphitheater!" Chris greeted us teens as he walked out onto the stage. "Okay, this week's challenge is a summer camp favorite. A talent contest!"

"Yes! Awesome!" Owen hooted from his seat.

"State of the art? More like a dumpy stage for a middle school band performance," I whispered to Duncan and Tyler who sat on the other side of me.

"Each team has eight hours to pick their three most talented campers. These three will represent them in the show tonight. Sing, dance, juggle. Anything goes, as long as it's legal," Chris explained, eyeing Duncan.

"Darn," Duncan muttered, snapping his fingers.

"You'll be judged by our resident talent scout, former DJ, VJ, and rap legend, Grand Master Chef, who will show his approval via the Chef-o-Meter," Chris told us, "the team that loses will send one camper home tonight. Good luck."

We headed back to our cabins to discuss who would go for our team. Katie and Sadie performed a dance routine that I will never be able to forget while Tyler showed us a failed yo-yo trick.

"Man, that is weak," Chris commented as he passed by.

DJ was next and did a cute ribbon solo. We all clapped in amusement as he finished.

"Yeah, DJ!" I hooted. "You gotta let him in, Court."

"Fine. Sign him up," Courtney caved in, claiming to be the judge of all of our acts. "Next."

"Me! I can stand on my hands for twenty minutes," Bridgette said excitedly. "Watch!"

As Bridgette went down to do a handstand, Courtney cut her off. "Okay, that'd be cute if you were a monkey. I just don't think it's quite what we're looking for. Next!"

Harold walked in front of us after Bridgette and as he was about to go, Courtney shut him down.

"Next!"

"Don't let her get to you, Harold, I can tell you have hidden talent underneath there," I whispered to the nerd as he took a stance next to me.

"Thanks, Logan." Harold smiled.

Geoff followed after Harold and did some wicked skateboarding moves that amazed pretty much everyone.

"Well, I guess it's Geoff, DJ's ribbon thing, and your solo," Bridgette voiced to Courtney.
