Seventy-five minutes. That's how long Eren had been in his room, refusing to come out. It had gotten to the point where the squad just gave up, leaving him in there with the door unlocked for when he wanted to come out and join them. Currently they were all in the mess hall, having dinner when they heard a crash coming from the basement.
"Did that come from the basement?" Sasha asked, looking wide-eyed in the direction of the basement. Connie nodded, worry eating away at him. "Isn't Eren still in the basement?"
"He'll be fine," Armin assured, "He probably just fell. He's always been clumsy, ever since we were kids." Sasha and Connie nodded, turning their attention back to their food. That was when they heard the shouting.
"You're not trash!" Eren shouted, more banging being heard from the basement. "You're not cold! You're not a bitch, you're not ugly!" With each sentence another bang was heard, as well as glass shattering. "You're not disgusting! You're not a slut, you're not dirty, you're not spoiled! You're not a monster! You deserve to be loved!" The squad's hearts broke. Their comrade felt this way, and they hadn't even realised. How oblivious were they? How could they call themselves Eren's comrades, his friends?
Jean rushed from the table, running from the mess hall and straight down to the basement. All the while he completely ignored the call of his comrades as he did so. Eren needed them, all of them, and he wasn't about to sit around and let the boy suffer on his own. No way. He had already suffered on his own, why should they allow that torment to continue?
Once the blonde arrived at the cell that Eren was staying in, he felt sick to his stomach. Shattered glass decorated the floor, blood staining the walls as well as fist holes dotted all across them. In the middle of all the chaos was a shaking form, Eren.
Entering the room cautiously, Jean made his way to where the crumbled boy sat. When he reached him, he pulled him in close and whispered to him, "Eren, you're alright. Listen to me, okay? You're not trash, you're worthy. You're not cold, you're loving. You're not a bitch, you're a comrade that we all need. You're not ugly, you're beautiful. You're not disgusting, you're gorgeous. You're not dirty, you're perfect. You're not spoiled, you're humbled. You're not a monster, you're human and you definitely deserve to be loved."
"But people don't like me, Jean!" the brunette sobbed, burying his face in the other's chest.
"That's because anything that is beautiful people want to break. And you're beautiful I'm afraid." The blonde boy murmured, holding the brunette as close as he could. Eren sobbed harder, refusing to let go of him. Jean knew he'd be alright, he had all of them to help him. Eren would recover from this, that he knew for certain, and he'd be there every step of the way. So would everyone else.
