|83| The Kiss, Sixth Year

Ralph leaned towards her and pressed his lips against Riley's. She felt the time stop, felt his hand run through her hair.

They broke apart, looking at archer other with small but sweet smiles on their faces. Ralph chuckled as he slowly took his hand away from her hair. Riley felt her cheeks go red.

"That was —" said Ralph softly.

"Oh, shut up," said Riley with a laugh and flung her not broken arm around her neck, bringing him into a kiss. She felt him pulling her closer.

"So," he said as they broke apart. "Next weekend?"

"Yeah," she said with a grin. "Maybe I'll see you around earlier."

Riley walked to the Gryffindor common room, she could already hear the noises coming from behind the portrait. They were partying like always they did after Gryffindor won a game of quidditch.

"Hey! Look! It's Crim!" said Sirius as he handed Riley a glass of firewhiskey. "Where were you exactly?"

"None of your business," she said with a giggle. She looked over to the other lot of people in there. She couldn't help but notice Remus with his tie not tied up, sitting in the middle of a table, mumbling some words.

"Is that Moony? Drunk?" asked Riley is shocked. "I need a photograph of this..."

"He's completely out of his mind! I absolutely love this!" said Sirius. "By the way, I already took photos of it."

"Great! More stuff to embarrass him!"

Riley sat over on the couch, Sirius sat next to her, put his feet on the table. He sipped his glass of whiskey and laughed as Remus spoke more.

"You know what, we should throw parties more often!" Remus yelled and then laughed at his own 'joke.'

"Yeah, Moony. Seeing you get all drunk is very fun indeed!" said James as he sat down. "I never thought I would get to see an outgoing Moony."

The record player enchanted by some seventh years played as people danced and popped more confetti. Remus had eventually fallen asleep on the corner of the couch. Peter and Jasmine were in a corner, snogging. Jasmine was a Ravenclaw student who had managed to sneak into the Gryffindor common room. James looked proud of the win they brought to the team. Riley was surprised by how Sirius was calmer than usual.

After some while, everyone started going back to the dormitories. Riley walked up the stairs to the dorm and opened the door.

"Ugh, I'm so tired — what the fuck?!" she exclaimed as she saw Dorcas and Marlene. Marlene's arms were around Dorcas and they were snogging each other. Dorcas pushed Marlene away as she saw Riley enter.

"I knew you two were already dating, but now I fully believe it," she said laughingly.

"How did you know?!" said Dorcas as she gasped.

"You were holding hands and the way you look at each other — also Marlene told me anyways," said Riley as she smiled.

"We just wanna keep it private for now," said Marlene. "So—"

"I won't say anything," said Riley.

16th of April, 1977

The big crowd in the common room sat in a big circle, some on the couch, some on the floor. James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, Lily, Dorcas, Marlene, Mary, and Riley were there.

"Evans, what about Hogsmeade this weekend?" asked James as he put on a goofy smile and sat down next to Lily. "The weather is nice—"

"Sure," said Lily shortly. "Three Broomsticks?"

James opened his mouth to say something but then stopped in realization. Everyone started to laugh, Remus put down his book, Sirius grinned. Riley laughed hysterically.

"You — you — what?" said James in shock, blinking over and over. "You agreed?"

"Yeah, wasn't this what you wanted all along?" said Lily with a grin.

"Somebody write the date somewhere, Lily agreed on a date with James!" said Marlene teasingly.

"You owe me a galleon," said Peter casually to Remus.

"Fuck you, Wormtail..." said Remus as he dug his hand in his pocket as he tried to find the coin. Peter grinned.

"And, Padfoot and Crim... Will you do the honor of handing me five galleons each from the perfect bet er had since our second year?" Peter said once again. Sirius showed his middle finger, Riley rolled her eyes.

"I think he's gonna wet himself," said Riley. "An amazing start to a long lasting relationship!"

"Who said it was a date?" asked Lily as she tried to seem cool with it. "We are just gonna go to Hogsmeade and have a butterbeer!"

"Oh, honey, it's a date," said Mary. "What are you gonna name your kids?"

Lily rolled her eyes. James sat back but his eyes were glued on Lily's face. Sirius told him to calm down and he tried to stop fidgeting with his hands.

"We should do something for the summer," said Sirius. "You know, as a group."

Everyone started chatting and agreeing to the suggestion. Some ideas were thrown, mostly rejected by Remus.

"Oh come on Remus, why don't you like the idea of going to a muggle amusement park?" asked Mary in disappointment. "It will be fun!"

"Absolutely not!" he said. "And I don't think I'll be free on the fourteenth of July..."

"Let's go hiking," said James, still his voice shaking. "That might be fun."

"But no magic," said Lily. "A challenge."

"It will be fun," said Marlene. "Except, where?"

"I don't know how to hike," said Peter. "Can't we go to those strange places with a huge glassy thing and lots of seats?"

"What the fuck is that?" asked Riley.

"People eat popcorn and all that," said Peter.

"A movie theatre?"

"Oh yes! That!"

"Nah," said Sirius. "The hiking will be more fun. Are we Gryffindors for nothing? I don't wanna become a family disappointment for nothing!"

"Padfoot—" said James quietly.
