Chapter 30: Breakdown

"So, tomorrow?" Keiji asked.

You nodded. "Yeah, see you tomorrow!"

Keiji left your house after. You sighed in relief. You two had spent the entire afternoon together, and in the evening, he finally just left.

It finally hit you that tomorrow you would go out with Keiji to ice-skate.

Your face immediately heated at that thought. What would you wear? What would you do? What would happen if you embarrassed yourself? This sucked.

But it was also a dream come true, so you weren't complaining at all. You very much loved him. He was your center of gravity, the thing you were hopelessly attracted to no matter how you tried to stop this feeling.

You hated it. If only you had totally fallen for someone else. You very well knew that even though you liked Konoha, you could never fully give him your heart. A part of it would always belong to Keiji.

I don't deserve Konoha at all.

You remembered all the times he had watched over you, comforted you, held you, been a shoulder to cry on. He was everything you needed. You sank to the floor.

Before you knew it, the familiar sensation of warm tears prickling at your eyes bubbled up. Tears started to stream down your face. Droplets hit the floor, making a sharp sound though they barely had much distance to fall.

I just wish that it could've been different. That maybe, just maybe, in another life, I would be happy. Everyone would be happy.

I hate myself, so, so much.

That night, you had a really good cry.

You woke up on the couch the next day.

The previous night, you were so drained after crying on the floor for such a long time you only had energy left to move yourself to the couch.

Your eyelids felt heavy. You could already sense that your eyes would be red and puffy.

How am I going to see Keiji like this?

You heard a knock on your door.

Must be Keiji. Goddamn. I'll just say I watched something really sad last night.

You dragged yourself to your feet and walked towards the front door.

Opening it, you said, "Yes, who is it?"

Upon seeing who it was, you took a few steps back and gasped. You could feel tears prickling your eyes again, along with a lump building in your throat.

"Konoha, what are you doing here?"
