Wings in vain

I wanted to fly,
But they chopped my wings.

In the cage, on the floor I lie,
Wishing to be a free bird that sings.

I am trapped in a room,
Secluded from the world.

Dawn or dusk, I am surrounded by gloom,
Feeling like a flag still unfurled.

Four walls surround me,
Trapping me inside.

Wish I could be free,
And see the world outside.

Will I ever be free?
Will I ever be able to start anew ?

People pity me.
I wish I had enough valour,
To start afresh and anew.
