Every day felt the same for the next few weeks: more bickering from kids and more scoffs and verbal attacks from Levi. My mind almost had enough, thinking of the past moments I spent being in the Survey Corps when I was eighteen. They all despised me for no apparent reason, I was such an easy target since I was trying to be a good girl in front of the superiors, not to give any hint of disapproval.
I've been in a constant rage for training with only Levi everyday. Also, I noticed him not watching me whenever I make rash choices. So, I guess he's not doing his job. Then again, I could care less. I like to run wild and be free from idiots like him.
No one woke me up this morning, it being the first day of freedom. Today's break was going to be spent in random things I think of at the moment, but currently, I will just lay here a little longer in bed.
"This feels nice. I get to have a day off." A grin placed itself on my face at the thought of no excessive exercise.
"I'll just wander around." I stood from my bed, dressed in my tan uniform from when I actually woke up a few hours prior.
I took a few long strides towards the wooden door, turning the knob to open it. No one stood in front, but as I turned my head to leave, I noticed a small stature disappear into a neighboring hall. Shrugging it off, I shut the door quietly, starting to walk the opposite direction with my hands in the small pockets of my pants.
I could only hear my breath and slow footsteps dragging across the cemented floors. I looked on the walls to see a few pictures of the squads every once in a while.
"Oh, you're that girl!" I heard a girl say, walking to my position with a small grin. She had short black hair and was quite taller than I was. I looked straight forward at the floor.
"What girl?" I asked with no emotion displaying.
"I don't rememeber your name, but you were beside Levi when we ran out to Karanes." I then remembered who she was.
"Mikasa, is it?" I asked, keeping my head low.
"Yes. I just want to say, you were incredible out there. I'm not really one to compliment, but your welcome." she spoke, with a low tone, but it felt honest.
"Ok." I replied, wondering what she might say next, but it was silent as she walked by my side. "Your buddy, Eren. Why the hell is he angry at me?" A little emotion poured into those words.
"He does? Oh, I didn't know. I thought he'd think your super cool." I chuckled to her comment.
"I'm assuming you don't know who I really am, do you?" I finally looked up at her black eyes, glaring into them with my emerald ones. She shook her head, making me explain. "Well, I'm a thief. I've also hurt people, not killed though, and the name is Nadette Tartal." I saw her expression shift from hope to a sudden death stare.
"That's why he hates you. Eren hates any criminal, thinking that they are just throwing their lives away to do the worst." Her voice grew cold like I stepped into a freezer.
I chuckled again, saying, "Thanks for the answer. I really appreciate it, now leave me be." From that, she spun around and walked the opposite direction, watching as my body continued forward.
"Tartal." Erwins voice echoed through the hall as he stood a few feet from my eyes.
"What do you want." I asked, balling my fists with scrunched eyebrows.
"I need to talk to you about something important." It sounds that way: important. He even looked around to see if anybody noticed us in the same hall. Erwin then opened the door to his office, allowing me to step foot into it.
