Imprisoned

My head spun for ages, thinking about the past. My attempts at running from them were constant, but I was tired of it. I wanted to rid myself of this mental pain. The thing is is that it wouldn't go away. I continued to act strong and prideful in front of the cadets and everyone else, but in reality, I was dwelling on my older days.

My hands gripped to the bed sheets as my body was sitting in between them and the mattress. I sighed as my legs tucked into my torso, wrapping my arms around as my head buried beneath my knees.

Don't cry. Don't cry. My mind rambled on, rocking back and forth on my bed.  I felt overwhelmed, more than I have ever felt in my entire life.

"Why am I so stuck on this?" I whispered to myself. Knock. Knock. Knock. My eyes darted towards the door, pausing my rocking.

"Nadette, open the door dammit. I'm not going to wait." I walked over quickly, washing my depressed face with a new happy one.

"Hey, Levi!" I exclaimed with a small grin.

"Tch. Hanji wants you." His arms were crossed, his eyes looking directly into mine.

"Ok! Are you taking me?" I asked, shutting door behind me.

"Stop acting all excited. And yea, just follow me." Levi strolled down the hall with me by his side, keeping my hands clasped behind my back.

"Why wouldn't I be excited. This is Hanji." Levi glared at my sudden burst.

"I thought she was annoying to you." I chuckled to his comment.

"I grew on her." My smile stayed, attempting to keep it as real as possible. No one has known I've been faking for a few weeks.

"Sure." He pushed the door open to Erwin's old office, it now being Hanji's.

"Hanji! Nice to see you again." I spoke, presenting a large smile. She gave me a smile back, but it didn't seem like a joyful one.

"We have a problem." She paused, standing with her hand resting on the desk. "It's the citizens."

"What about them?" I asked with a slightly higher pitched voice, arching my eyebrows in confusion.

"They know about you. They know that you steal and are now in the Survey Corps." A small cackle escaped my breath, both of them looking at me with arched eyebrows.

"And?"

"They're protesting you to be sentenced to death or imprisoned for years." My smile didn't drop nor fade. Don't show vulnerability. I shrugged my shoulders.

"Just say no." My smirk seemed to have effected them.

"Well, we can't when it's effecting the king. He's considering you to be imprisoned." Hanji replied, glaring at Levi for any clue why I'm fine with this.

"Listen. If I get imprisoned, it's past my ability, but I'll fight by your side as long as I can before that happens." I quickly saluted, taking a few steps towards the door.

"Why are you ok with this? It's out of character." Hanji asked with a sorrowful tone.

"Because, I have done wrong things and killing my parents is too great. Being here was honestly fun, but there'll be a point where I'll have to take the chopping block." I gave her one last smile, swinging the door open. When I crossed the threshold, the door shut behind me. My act washed away, feeling a sigh of relief.

"Imprisoned?" I whispered as I made my way to the mess hall for food. "No." My head hanged low, tears almost upwelling in my eyes. "Not another jail cell."
