There's actually a lot of routes this can take.
1. Jef could be a target
2. Jef could just be someone Good knows
Or maybe Jef could be an assassin himself (based on how i see Jef that's a stretch but, why not?)
Or Jef could be related to a client/target
or jef could even be training to be an assassin and somehow convinces good to train him
Or infinitely more possibilities
For number one, I feel like Good would be stalking Jef as his target, befriending him, waiting for the right moment to strike, but by the time that comes then Good is unable to make himself do it, having fallen for the boy. Good then is forced to protect Jef while he attempts frantically to hide the truth.
Number two would probably just be pretty calm, although Jef would be a little scared at first when he asks Good what he does for a job and Good's just like "Oh yeah i kill people" Because that's the kind of person good is
