"Are you nervous?" My sister asks me as she fixes the back of my dress. I gulp the lump in my throat, looking at my fingers as I grip the small bouquet of wildflowers.
"Oh, (Y/N)... You look absolutely gorgeous. And everything is perfect outside. You shouldn't worry about anything." She tries to soothe me.
"I just... I thought my wedding day... I thought it would be different." I admit, stuttering as I try to let out the words without bursting into tears.
"I know... I know, honey. I don't know what to say other than it is their loss they are not here. But hey, we are going to have the best day ever, and you are going to be married to the love of your life by the end of it." She plants a kiss on my forehead, giggling as she wipes the lip stain her lipgloss left on my skin.
"Is it too bad that I don't care about anything else but marrying him right now?" I ask and she chuckles, shaking her head from side to side.
"I am surprised didn't go through with the eloping plan."
"I mean, we had already made a down-payment for the venue and it was non-refundable. So..." I shrug.
"Ladies, we are ready for you." The venue coordinator announces, peeking his head through the tent. We both turn to him and smile, my sister stepping before me for a second and draws in a deep breath.
"Are you ready?" She asks and I nod.
"I feel like I am going to pass out, tho..." I mumble and she scoffs.
"You will be fine. Do you have your vows?" She asks me and I bite my lip.
"I have them memorized." I reply and she sighs in relief.
"Ok, then. Let's get you down the aisle." She links her arm with mine.

My niece wobbles ahead of us, throwing flower petals messily on the ground. She has been casting handfuls of flowers at her first couple of steps, so by the time she reaches the arch, her little basket has been emptied. I can see Ashton leaning down, high-fiving the toddler who giggles before she joins her father at her assigned seat at the front.
I fix my posture, taking a deep breath before we start walking down the aisle. Since my parents stubbornly refused to join us on what they described as the biggest mistake of my life, my sister insisted she would be the one to give me away, even though I assured her I could walk 30ft. by myself just fine. I am thankful I did not choose a dress with a train and I am now able to move elegantly, without being held back by the weight of the extra fabric.
Once we pass the first row of seats, I can see Ashton in all detail. He still makes my heart beat without a steady rhythm, which is the most reassuring thing right now; I have chosen the right person to spend the rest of my life with. Even though we never talked about our wedding outfits, he seems to be matching my breezy vibe. He has paired a loose white shirt, leaving the 3 top buttons undone, with a pair of ashy baby blue slacks. He looks perfect for our botanical garden wedding, and I feel like tearing up at how perfect he is. He hasn't shaved nor cut his hair, much to my gratitude, so he looks like Ashton, my Ashton, and nothing like the stereotypical, clean-cut grooms in movies and ad brochures.
I can see him smile and press his lips together as I walk the last few feet towards him, which makes me jittery with excitement.
"You make sure you make each other happy." My sister whispers, giving me away to Ashton. I am glad she did not say anything typically threatening like fathers or brothers say when they give away the bride.
We thank her before turning to each other, just staring and giggling a bit awkwardly.

"You look gorgeous, my love." He compliments me, picking my hand and bringing it to his lips. He helps me up the last step so we both stand under the arch now.
"You look dashing." I compliment him back. He still holds my hand as we stand facing each other.
"Are you ready to begin?" The officiator asks us and we both nod.
"Friends, family, loved ones. We gathered here today to celebrate love. The love of two people who are ready to commit to each other. Love is difficult to find but easy to see, and we would all agree that love is evident in this couple. But instead of hearing it from me, the couple would like to speak to each other before you on the day of their union." The officiator introduces us, giving us a moment before I start my vows.
