An old familiar road

The midday breeze was cool.
I let it play with my hair
And run its soft hands across
My face as I strolled down
That old familiar road.

That old familiar road.
Blessed with pretty flowers, whose
Names I cannot recall and
Those grasses that worshipped
My bare feet with each step.

Amidst those grasses, my
Feet felt it lying beneath.
Half buried in soil and dirt,
Tattered...old and lonely.
Oh...it was abandoned!

It longed for a place where
It can lay its tired head.
Maybe, I should have let it
Accompany me on
That old familiar road.
