"Kunikida-san! Are you okay?!" The sounds of my subordinate came to my ears shortly after the suspect escaped. I stood up, adjusted my vest and spectacles while brushing some of the dirt off my pants. The forest wasn't an amazing place to investigate in, as most of my team was separated and lost. Footsteps approached me in a timely manner, and I soon saw the man who was calling my name. "Oh, thank goodness you're alright!!"

"We must find the others. These murderers are still running loose in this forest-like madmen. Us being separated was not the plan." I ordered. He nodded and activated a special ability that granted him the same physical features of a blood-thirsty tiger. I followed close behind as he ran around, trying to find a trace of the other members of our team. "Make sure not to go too far, Atsushi-kun, we need to make sure we stick together." I could hear the tiger grunt and continue his way down.

Moments before Atsushi had called out to me, there was a knife to my throat. It had seemed that most of the members of this cult must've been skilled with assassination. He was behind me, then in front. My sharp senses had made sure I stayed alive in the attack, so I quickly pushed him out of the way and was getting ready to restrain the member for questioning. However, he ran away before I could make another move. He must've not been used to people fighting back, which made sense.

I looked ahead of me and saw Atsushi in his tiger form staring at me. Once I acknowledged his presence, he turned around and began walking. This must've indicated that he found a member of our team.

"Lead the way," I said as I started running alongside him. Human grunts and sounds of blades were heard. I quickly went through the trees into a clearing where I found one of my coworkers on top of a hooded man.

"Ugh..finally. You were so difficult." She wiped the sweat away from her face and had a satisfied grin.

"Yosano-sensei, you caught a cult member?" I walked over to her to see if I could offer any assistance.

"Yep, cuff him up Kunikida-kun. We'll be questioning...wait...NO!" The agency's doctor had looked back at the hooded man's face and seen life draining from his face. "He must've taken a suicide pill...damn it. When did he have time to do that?"

"He most likely kept it inside his mouth when we began attacking this area," I predicted, still staring at the dead man. "We're going to have to do a temporary retreat. Let's find the others and head back to the station."

Yosano nodded, still having disappointment in her eyes.

The adrenaline in my body calmed down as I started walking away, seeing that the battle was close to over.

"Uh...Kunikida..." Yosano called out to me.

"Hm?"

"Your back...its..."

My back? I focused more of my attention on it, and she was right. There was a sharp pain up and down my back. The feeling was warm, most likely blood. Had I not noticed I had been cut before? My vision was starting to get dark, and my steps were weak. My legs gave out below me, and I was soon falling to the ground.

The last thing I saw was the trees. In the branches, the same man I had fought with before was kneeling with his hood on. He stared at me, a little too intently...

I woke up in an infirmary. Yosano must have treated me beforehand because the pain in my back disappeared. As if by command, someone came in. A very familiar blonde he was..

"Oh, Kunikida-san! You're awake!!" Kenji, the youngest member of the agency, walked over to me with a smile.

"I'm glad to see you're still in one piece, Kenji."
