"Kunikida Doppo... high school...nope, doesn't ring a bell!" L/N said with a smile, pointing her index finger up to the ceiling. Impossible, could I have gotten the wrong person? Although, we had gone to the same high school, and I was close friends with someone with the name, L/N, Y/N.

"Seriously?" I hadn't the faintest clue why I was wasting my time with this woman. There was no way she could've been the same L/N I knew back in high school.

"Hmm..well. Did we have any mutual friends?"

"We were good friends with...." Their names. I hadn't spoken of them in such a long time. I didn't even know if I could say their names ever again. "My brother...and his wife."

"And their names?"

I was now the one becoming distant. I was trying to gather the strength to say it. Finally, my mouth dry, I opened my mouth. "Sasaki Nobuko, and Kunikida Kamekichi."

"Sasaki..wow! She was my best friend! So she and Kamekichi got married huh?"

"I should probably go. Lock up once you're done. Get home safely, L/N." I placed the keys on the counter beside the door and opened it.

"..?" Before she could say another word, I closed the door. I should not have pried into the past. I should've known that meeting someone from my past would've brought those two into the conversation, making it one I wish I would never have started.

Many people were walking along on the sidewalk, most likely beckoning to go back home. Crickets started to sing, and the moon beautifully shone over the city. It was quiet, as it usually is after a long day of hard work. The only loud sound I could hear was cars driving by, but even that was quiet to my ears.

A small poke to my back made me flinch, also resulting in me letting out a small yelp.

"Ah! Jumpy, are we?" L/N came into my view from the side, having a mischievous grin plastered on her face.

"What are you doing? I thought you were going to finish Dazai's paperwork-"

"And I am. I just thought it'd be better to work on it in the comfort of my...home." She explained with her bag over her shoulder.

"Did you lock up?" L/N nodded, raising the key, and placed it in my hand. "What happened to me not finding out your address? I thought you didn't want me to walk you home."

"Don't flatter yourself." She elbowed my arm, which did hurt a bit. "We'll part ways eventually, and you'll never know where I live Kunikida!" The woman said with an odd amount of pride. It's as if her home is some sort of temple people need to go on a quest to find.

"I see."

"Anyways..! Now that I know you're the brother of my best friend...well...former best friends' husband, I've got questions!" Of course, because why wouldn't she want to know? I gulped hard and averted my glance away from her quickly. "What? Are you mad at me because I don't remember you?"

"Not necessarily, but I find it kind of bizarre that you remember my brother but not me." A sweatdrop went down my cheek and I squeezed the back of my neck. Was I really not that memorable?

"Yeah, that would've been weird. Not to worry though, I've known who you were this whole time. Even before you figured it out." L/N admitted casually.

"What?"

"Yeah."

"Why didn't you say anything before?"

"Well...number one: I thought it would be fun to see how long it'd take for you to recognize me!" She spelled out.

"You act a lot different from what you did in high school."
