Kokichi POV

"K-kichi...." Mikan muttered

"Mom is dead" She said as she ended the call

"What?...." Is all that left my mouth

"She was murdered yesterday."Mikan said in a serious tone that surprised me quite a bit

She was.... murdered?.. The person who used to beat me black and blue... is dead?

"They need us to go back to Japan"

My eyes widened, could this be just pure coincidence? Or did fate really want me to have an opportunity to meet everyone, whatever it is all I can say is

"What! Really?!" In an excited tone which left Mikan confused

"Y-yes?" She said curious as to why I got so excited "Do you want to go?"

"Yes! Yes! Yes! Duh!" I said jumping up and down

"A-alright then, i-i-i'll book tickets to fly to japan, when do you wanna g-"

"The sooner the better!" I cut her off

"Alright t-then?" She walks to the living room, i'm assuming to book a flight

I run to the kitchen and place the ice cream in the freezer

Mikan POV

I finished booking a flight to Japan

She's dead huh...

Backstory (so you all can understand what actually happened)

I was an only child before my mom fell pregnant with my baby brother Kokichi.

But after she gave birth, her and dad would always fight and I had to take care of my baby brother which I didn't mind at all since he was adorable

And when Kokichi was only in Kindergarten and I was in highschool they finally divorced and each parent took one of us, of course I tried bringing Kokichi with me but my mom didn't let him

Soon after that I moved in with my father and 6 months after the divorce he got married to my stepmom and now I had a new step brother

'Great' I thought, he's a party maniac and would always throw parties whenever our parent's left the house

One time he was hanging out with his friends in the living room and I was going to grab my phone when suddenly they spoke up

"Dude, your sister is hot" one of them said

"I bet she's nice in bed" another voice added

"She's just a disgusting pig" My stepbrother scoffed

It was just words at first but then whenever they saw me they'd try harassing me and one of them went as far as spiking my drink just to..... Yeah I think you all know what happened

That's when I developed my stuttering

I worked twice as hard to finish highschool because I wanted to be a nurse

Fast forward to after college

My father died because of illness, My stepbrother inherited the money since he was the 'favorite'

But by then I was already a nurse and a prodigy at that

I heard rumors about a new Danganronpa season and thats when I heard it

"Kokichi Ouma seems like an interesting character, I wanna see what he does in the game" A fellow co-worker said

"I bet he will survive, he seems smart" another one added

"D-did you s-s-say Kokichi O-ouma?" I stuttered out

Thats when I found out my brother was in this Virtual Simulator

I was relieved to find out he was okay, but that sparked another idea

'Why would he want to go back to Japan....' that thought lingered at the back of my head

"Mikannnn!" Kokichi whined from the kitchen

"Y-yes?" I raised my voice so that he could hear me

"Are we gonna eat the Ice cream or not?!"

"O-oh! Right" I said before walking towards the kitchen

He sat down on the counter as he gave me a bowl of Ice cream

"Sososososo! When are we going?!" I thought I could see stars in his eyes for a moment

"T-t-the earliest flight would be in 5 days" I said

He smiled and ate a spoonful of Ice cream

"K-kokichi may I ask a question?"

He nods signalling me to continue

"W-why are you so excited to go back?"

He hesitated for a brief moment

"I guess.... I'm following where my heart goes" He said with a smile on his face "and that's not a lie by the way!" He said before stuffing his face with ice cream

I couldn't detect any lies in his sentence which made me smile

"You really are whipped for this Detective guy huh?~" I said teasingly

Which made him look at me in surprise

"Wou jid nawt schatter dat taim" He said before swallowing his ice cream

I only gave him a confused look

"You did not stutter that time!" He repeated his words more clearly

"O-oh..."

"Also! How'd you know?!" He asked me with a shocked expression

"Y-you were so happy when N-nagito got you that Shuichi Chibi Figurine, you think I wouldn't n-notice?"

His cheeks became flushed and I giggled knowing I was right

'He really did change a lot huh....'
