Sidharth:
"Sidharth...." okay honestly this whining tone makes me nervous.
"Kya hua hain baby? Haan baby?" I asked Shehnaaz over the call later that night.
"Main hurt hoon!" she sounded like a whinger.
"Kis baat se hurt hain tu baby?" I now ask her baffled.
"Tere Fan Followings se! Kitne ladkiya taad ti reheti hongi teko!" she told and here I mentally face palm myself, somewhere I knew this would come.
IDEA!!
"Paar tujhe toh pura haq mila hain.. Tujhe toh Instagram pe bhi nehi jana hoga! Soch kitni lucky hain tu baby!" my smart brain clicked as I told her.
"Woh toh main hoon, lekin kisine tujhe taadne ki koshish ki na.. Muh todd dena hain maine uska!" Okay, 'jealous and possessive, my kind of a girl!'
Shehnaaz was one of a kind. She could be like a child whining for a toffee but at the same time caring and matured enough to understand from a voice tone. She felt that I was being sleepy and really tired from the match followed by the dinner program at her place. "Sidharth, mujhe na neend aa rahi hain.. Chal so jaate hain! Goodnight..." but I knew she was not at all sleepy and did that for me.
Point 1. She understood me without my saying.... may be for others this was nothing but these little things do matter to me. Understanding is very important aur bina bole samajh jana is a quality.
I quickly typed an email to the CSK team authorities pleading for the leave for a day and promising them to join back at Chennai the very next day. My leave was granted immediately. I stayed back for a day in Punjab. Efforts toh dalne honge na relationship mein!
Next morning, I woke up and was going to text her when my mother barged in my room, "Tere flight miss ho gaya hain baccha... pura team chala gaya! Tu so raha hain abhi taak!!" Mom will be mom! "Apko kya laga ki ye flight miss kar diya asehi? Mail check karo iska toh mil jayega ki leave daali huyi hain isne!" Why do they know me so well! "Aab hain to usse jaake surprise de!" she added and I love her for the idea. I gave a sloppy kiss to my mom's cheek and proceed towards Di to do the same when she squealed, "Chee, ewww, Sidharth! Sochna bhi maat!" ..."Haan aab Jiju se milta hain toh... " I trail off only to earn a flying cushion. I poke out my tongue and ran towards the washroom to freshen up.
My mother and my Di left for Mumbai. They have pre-booked their tickets for return provided the one day leave my Di got giving an excuse of the family emergency at her workplace. I insisted them to join me for the surprise but they had to return. They left promising me a proper Punjab trip with family very soon.
"Sidharth... tu toh chala gaya... parr main miss kar rahi hoon tujhe!" I knew this tone. I chuckled internally parking the car at the Haveli's gate. I could see Shehbaaz coming out and I gesture him to be quite as am giving her a surprise. "Baby abhi thodi deir baad am calling you.." telling her I cut the call. I sat at the lawn with Daddaji and Daddiji trying hard to keep up a conversation by understanding their hindi mixed Punjabi.
"Moto, Daddaji nu balaiya tenu.. Lawn te.. Cheti cheti ja! [Moto! Daddaji has called you.. at the lawn.. go quickly!]" Shehbaaz informed Shehnaaz.
I was sitting with my back towards the entrance. She came down running to ask, "Ki hoya Daddaji? Kyu bulaiya tusi?" and then her eyes fell on my grinning face and instantly she gasped coming close to look at me, " Hayeee.. Sidharth!! Tu yahan? Tu toh Chennai mein tha na?" and then pinched my nose to check if I was there for real! "Ouch!!! Main hi hu gadhi!! Surprise tha ye.. Aj leave le li... kal Severe te jana hain wapas.[I will leave tomorrow morning.]" I tried to speak a line at last in Punjabi. Aab thoda toh ana chahiye na!
