Jia's POV
At the time, I was five years old, my friend Adam and I were playing in his father's invention room. When Adam's father invents anything, Adam and I usually go there to play. When Adam's father is doing something, he loves to have someone to talk to.
We are allowed to play inside, but Adam's father stipulated that we are not allowed to touch anything inside. And, because Adam and I are both obedient, we don't give a damn about what's going on inside.
I remember when Adam and I were kids, we were usually together. Adam's father, Father Ayzan, adopted me.
When my parents died, there was still a war going on between humans and robots. My parents were warriors at the time, and they died in battles with robots attempting to colonize humanity. However, with the support of Laxar's Father and the Emperor, the humans prevailed at the conclusion of the conflict. My father and Ayzan are great friends, so when he found out what had happened to my parents, he was devastated. He was depressed and did not leave his room for several weeks. But it's nice that he's acting as if nothing happened now.
"Jia, what are your long-term goals?" We're playing a chess game on a round table, and the chessboard is a hologram, but the pieces are real. Adam asked.
Before I could respond, I had to move the horse. "My objectives are twofold: I want to be with you, Adam, and I want to protect you," I replied, and he laughed.
"Why is your ambition solely for me, Jia? You should also consider yourself," as he moves his pawn, he told to me.
"It's fine, Adam, it's my decision. Don't be concerned," I stated as I moved my pawn and grinned at him.
"How about you, Adam? What do you want to achieve?" I asked him, and he hesitated for a moment before looking at me.
"I want to be a scientist someday," he said, and he seemed very happy. I can't rule out the possibility of him becoming a scientist in the future, he is incredibly bright for a six-year-old.
Both of us are in Adam's room, and our beds are futuristic Smart Capsule or Pod Beds. Future capsule or pod beds will provide us with a comfortable sleeping environment that incorporates temperature control, surround sound, and unique lighting. Capsule beds also have computer systems embedded in them that can detect our level of comfort and alter the lighting, temperature, and sounds to provide the most restful sleep possible. This is simply one of Adam's father's inventions that is still in the works, but it is the one that some people are using in the year 3018. We were fortunate to be the first to use it before it became well-known. We can also make our bedroom into Zero Gravity, but we only do this once. Our bodies may be affected if we make our room zero gravity. However, the float was a lot of fun since you just drifted in the air, and Adam and I had a lot of fun during that time.
In Adam's father's virtual reality, we play racing games, cave adventures, and robot battles. He even got inside his father's hovercar and learned how to drive it. He is so intelligent, there was a moment when I cried in the middle of the night because I was reminded of my parents. He walked over to my capsule bed and hugged me, telling me that "all will be okay." He wiped my tears away with his hands while smiling at me. "Don't worry, I won't leave you and will always be there for you," as I felt his warm, soft lips on my cheeks, my eyes opened. I don't know what I'm feeling, so I looked at him, who was now sleeping while still clutching me. I just wrapped my arms around him and pressed my face against his chest as I felt him embrace me tightly. I slowly closed my eyes.
We once heard an odd noise coming from Father Ayzan's inventing room when we were playing in our room. Adam and I were just in the room putting the tools together, building robots and other technological devices are one of our favourite things to do together. Yes, we build robots for pleasure, and it's not difficult because Father Ayzan has previously taught us how to do so.
We averted our gaze once more as we heard another noise coming from the inventing room. Adam abruptly rose from his seat and exited the room.
"Adam, let's just stay here. If we don't obey, we'll be reprimanded," I reminded him as I stood up and pulled his arm, causing him to turn to face me.
"Let's just look inside to see what's going on, and maybe Father won't notice if we're just quiet," as he winked at me, he said.
"All right," I said, worriedly glancing at him.
"Let's go see what's going on over there," I was taken aback when he abruptly grabbed my hands, he explained.
To be honest, I have a crush on Adam, so I'm not sure what I felt when he took my hand in his.
Even though we are still children, I believe I have been struck by Cupid's arrow.
Even though the phrase Cupid's arrow, or Cupid, or even mythology is a bit ancient, that is a Greek mythological entity. I'm still looking into it since it interests me.
When we arrived at the inventive room's entrance, he let go of my hand. Because Adam was in front of me, I moved in front of him, dropped my body, and peered around the corner. Our eyes opened as we noticed what appeared to be a portal there, but Father Ayzan was still standing in front, signing something. When Adam walked in unexpectedly, I noticed his father was taken aback. When you look within the portal, you'll notice a blue and white light that sparkles a little and runs in a circular pattern.
"Mr. Adam Isaac Alric, what brings you here?" His father exclaimed that he was surprised to see us. Yes, he noticed me because I stepped out and approached him.
"Didn't I tell you, you brought Jia here? Stay in your rooms, both of you!" He said, and he seemed irritated with us.
"Father, no! I'm curious to see what's inside!" Father Ayzan was enraged as he glanced back and forth between me and Adam, insisting on him while Adam just looked up at him.
"It's time for you two to go to your rooms!" He said while pointing out the window of his invention chamber.
"All right, Father," Adam murmured as he sighed again and slowly turned around to face me. He looked up at me, then winked at me before turning around and sprinting to the portal.
I was taken aback and ran after him to stop him.
"Adam Isaac!" I was ready to take Adam's hand when Father Ayzan shouted, but I didn't notice there were tools in front of me, and I tripped over them.
I looked at Adam, who was now being held by his father, and his father's eyes widened as he attempted to grasp me, but it was too late, I had entered the portal.
While I was inside, I felt like I was floating in mid-air, surrounded by clocks. I cover my ears and close my eyes because there's a loud ticking inside, and it hurts my ear since it's becoming louder.
I couldn't take it any longer and scream, and my eyes were opened to see that the course of time had reversed extremely quickly, and the years had returned as if there had been an earthquake inside, and the clocks continued to rotate in reverse.
The one in front of me gradually became brighter, and the light grew larger, and I simply shied on my arm as I saw the clock stop, and I only saw the numbers above.
"The year 1998?!"
