I wonder what the policy is
for a suicidal teenager
someone who hasn't made it to twenty
but thinks about
drowning in bathtubs
and jumping off buildings
or taking too many pills
and drinking too much
or knows just enough about anatomy
that they know where and
how they need to cut
but what I really want to know is
what the teen gets out of it
if they don't overflow the tub
or employ the blade or drugs
and they make it to twenty
because they should get a reward
because staying alive is hard
