I heard the sky open up
as I sat in my chair
in the room with the only
remaining light in the home
it was late enough to be early
my mother would
soon rise to begin her day
before my prior one finished
the sky opened and
I felt a yearning in my soul
to go out into the night
and let my senses override
sight would be gone in the clouds
but the rain would whisper
into my ears
and leave sweet
kisses on my skin
I didn't act on the
inner pressure that
attempted to lure me out
I knew
I'd drown in the whispers
and kisses
let myself dissolve into the
existing puddles
when I went out
the pouring would
try to seduce me
and sweep me away
and a desire within me
would pull me down with it
