Yoshie's POV:

"running away is easy... it's the living that's hard"

. . . yawn

Today, another day at the cafe, wiping the tables in their rich deep browns, listening to the slow music echoing in the empty rooms, it was almost 9 pm, and my shift will finally be over, a sigh escapes my lips, I pull down my mask while walking over to the counter.

I hear the quenching rain. The percussion of the given water varies according to the surface it wets. There are the drums that are windows, the rainy day comes as an invitation to rest, to relax, to let the ever-steady moment expand into dreamy poetic wonderings.

I look down at my clock, the ticking seems to get slower and slower the longer I stared at it, as I was waiting, I stared at my reflection on the shiny counter, I looked sideways, my eyes still fixed on my reflection, "ah.. I might need a haircut" before I could waste any more time, my alarm went off, as I picked up my phone, the time "9 P.M" was greatly displayed on the screen, making me sigh in relief, as I put my phone back in my pocket, I hear the sound of the bell jiggling, the sound that indicated the arrival of new customers, and the footsteps that were more likely to cover the shiny floor that I spent the last thirty minutes cleaning, dirty, assuming it was pouring outside, it's only normal for it to be the case,

Before the customer could see my face and features, I pulled my mask up to cover the lower half of my face, and I was about to lift my head, greet the customer, and inform them that, unfortunately, it was time for us to close.

"Hello, I'm sorry to inform you that we are closing-" The moment my eyes met his purple ones, looking at his state, how he was drenched, he had no umbrella and he was trying to hide the fact that he was shivering from the cold, "I'm sorry, but could I have a black coffee, please? I promise I won't stay here for long"

My eyebrows raised in surprise, he seemed apologetic, and his current state tells me he really needed a warm drink to calm his nerves, so I nodded, lifting my right arm, and pointed at one of the seats in the corner of the shop, right next to the big windows that gave one of the best views of the city,

"Sure, please take a seat while I prepare your order, it'll be done in a few minutes" my lips curve up in a small welcoming smile, well, not that he could see it anyways, I was still wearing my mask...

He nodded while smiling slightly, and heading towards his seat, while I start preparing his order, today was unusual, people might ask, what is a young lady doing all alone in a coffee shop? Well, two of our waitresses got into a car accident on their way to work this afternoon, so our manager had to go visit them in the hospital to make sure they weren't in a critical condition, while doing so, he left me in charge of the shop for the evening and said he would reward me in my paycheck, so that was wonderful.
