Chapter 20: to be a hero, and die

Sophie's P.O.V.

After Zayn ran off, I stayed there and cried. I cried in the rain, until I had no more tears. Then the rain made more tears for me, the rain washed down my face. I bury my head in my knees. Then a cold shiver goes up my spine. My clothes are soaked, and a cold wind is going through the alley. I look up, and stare at the cloudy sky, letting the rain fall on my face. I'm getting colder. I stand up and start to walk out of the alley. Until I hear a noise behind another dumpster a little farther down the alley. I get scared and start to run. I run to street I don't know, I don't know where I am. I'm lost, in the rain. I look around, and see a bank across the street. I start to walk towards it, so I can go in and get warm, and call my friends to come find me. I'm reaching for the door, when I hear a loud ringing coming from inside. Then the door in front of me bursts open, and it knocks me down. I've fallen into a puddle. I look up at the person who knocked me down,

I stop breathing for a second, it's a robber. He's got a black mask on his face, and he's got a giant bag. (I'm assuming it's full of the money he just stole) he starts to run, one of the bank clerks runs out, "somebody catch him!" She yells. I don't know what I'm doing anymore, I feel like I can't control my mind, but it's almost a reflex. As soon as she yelled for someone to grab him, I got up and ran after him. Unfortunately for both of us, he's not a fast runner, so I catch up to him pretty easily. I grab him, and pull him to the ground. He struggles, and finally gets out of my grasp. He knocks me off my feet,I'm on the ground. Then he tries to run again, I jump up again, and I'm about to grab him for the second time, but he turns around and pulls something out of his jacket, and I hear a loud noise.

A gun shot. I feel a pain in my chest. I look down at myself to see a gun shot wound in my chest. It's gushing blood. "That'll teach you!" He says running again. My vision is starting to get blurry, I try to go back to the bank to get help, when I turn around, I see Zayn and the others running towards me, just when my vision goes black, and I collapse on the ground. I don't see or hear anything, just black. And the pain in my chest is going away. Slowly.

Zayn's P.O.V.

Me and the others went out to go find Sophie, it's dark from the clouds, and all the rain. We are running everywhere looking for her, when we get to the corner of one street, we meet there, we had split up earlier, so we all met at this corner.

"Did you find her!?" Ash yells, running towards me.
"No, I'm guessing you didn't find her either." When the others get there, we all run down the next street, and we stop at that corner to, to catch our breathe. We hear a loud ringing coming from the street we stopped on, we see a man in black run out of a building, and a lady running after him shouting,

"someone catch him!", then we see a girl that was in puddle get up and start running after him. Then I realize I recognize that girl, it's Sophie.
"Guys! That's Sophie!!" I say pointing in her direction. Then we all start to run after her, I see her grab the man in black, and pull him to the ground. She's trying hard to keep him down, but he wriggles free of her grasp. Then he gets up to start running again, but Sophie is to fast she jumps up and tries to grab him again. Then my heart stops when I see him pull out a gun, and point it at Sophie.

"No!" I hear Ash shriek. Then we all stop in our tracks when we hear a gun shot, and see the man run away from Sophie. She is just standing there, we all start to run towards her again, she turns around, when she does it doesn't take her more than 2 seconds for her to collapse on the ground. I break into a full sprint, but even sprinting, Ash is still faster than me. She reaches Sophie first. She's sobbing,

"Sophie!? Sophie!? Wake up!!!" She yells, still sobbing. I kneel down next to her, and I start to cry too. The wound in her chest looks extremely bad, I pick her up and carry her bridal style, I start running in the direction of the bank, then when I get there,

"did any of you catch him!?" The bank clerk asks,
"who cares about that now!? He shot my girlfriend!" I yell at her, furious that she only cares about is the money that douche bag robber stole. She looks at Sophie, her eyes widen at the sight of the wound, then she runs inside to call an ambulance. Ash is wrapped in Niall's arms, sobbing in his chest. It only takes a minute for the ambulance to arrive. Some emergency crew people jump out with a gurney and put her on the gurney. Then carry her in the ambulance, and drive off. A police car is there to, and offers us a ride to the hospital. We all won't fit, so some of us squish into the first car, I sit in the front seat, Niall sits in the back with Ash on his lap, and Harry sits back there to with Callie on his lap. Another police car pulls up, and G sits in the front, and Liam sits in the back with Miley on his lap, and Louis sits next to him with Amanda on his lap. Liam and Miley look comfortable, but Louis and Amanda look awkward. They've been like this all day. We get to the hospital, it wasn't very far away from where we were. When we get there, we all jump out and run inside, we wait in the waiting room for results from the doctors. Please don't take her from me, please don't take her from me. I keep repeating in my head. A few minutes later, some policemen came in with sketch pads, and note pads. They asked us questions about what he looked like, and what happened. We told him all we knew, then they left. I couldn't wait to see Sophie any longer, I started to pace the room. Running my hands through my hair. Then the nurse walks out and says we can go in and see her. Me and Ash are the first ones in her room. The doctors don't look happy. Which makes me even more worried. She looks so peaceful, just lying there. I walk up and grab her hand, hoping she will talk, or at least do something. But nothing happens.

"Will she be alright?" I ask the doctors, but they walked away, and pretend they never heard me. Tears are forming on my eyes again. Ash is grabbing her other hand, and starts to sob. Niall grabs her, and carries her away. Callie, Amanda, and G come up now. Tears in all of their eyes. Amanda starts to sob, and G is cupping her her face in her hands. Callie can't even stay, she walks out. G decides to go with her, and Amanda soon Follows. I'm now alone with Sophie. "Sophie...please wake up, please. I love you." I whisper to her, "I love you."
