He was a really quiet kid when he was younger and didn't have many friends, until college. He was bullied a bit and the few friends he had were pretty toxic.
He had a bit of a difficulty learning as a kid due to all of this and his ADHD stacked on top of that, but he did make one good friend named Isaac in 7th grade.
Isaac would bring Jay gifts that helped feed into Jay's interests and also bought him fidgets and Polaroid cameras. After a bit, Jay found out he had fallen for Isaac and that he was gay.
He soon cane out to him and the two started dating, until Isaac had to move. He did leave Jay with a very good camera when he left, and even tho the two remained friends after, Jay still uses that camera and its his favorite.
This is also how he got very into photography.
Soon, he started to get more confident, and while he still didn't have too many friends, he was finally starting to get out his bubble
When college rolled around, him and Alex were roommates, and the two became best friends. Around this time, Alex started writing Marble Hornets
Jay met Tim, Brian, Seth, and Sarah through that, but didn't meet Amy and Jessica until later.
Then all of Marble Hornets happened.
