Arthurs road to recovery was tough, but with you standing by his side he felt invincible. You celebrated every victory no matter how big or small. Soon days spread to weeks and weeks to months and Arthur was back on his feet. Your heart still froze just thinking about what you witnessed when he rode into camp half alive. Nobody ever made you feel the way Arthur did and when you thought he had been taken away from you, you broke into a million pieces, so you had some recovering to do of your own.

It was a cool Sunday evening, the sun was covered by gloomy grey clouds, yet the camp was decorated with high spirits and smiling faces as today was Arthurs first day back on his horse. He had barely left that horse alone for five minutes since the incident. It bonded them in a innocent manner. He insisted on riding her today alone, you were worried about him going alone, but you understood. While he was gone you wondered around until you found yourself in his tent. You made his bed for him and tidied up a little when you came across his sacred journal. It had fallen open on the floor. You didn't want to read it as that was his own personal thing, but your eyes betrayed you when the voice in your head quickly spoke the first line

"Tomorrow is my birthday. Keeping it a secret. I don't want to take any of the attention away from bigger matters."

"Bless him." You thought to yourself. Closing the journal and placing it under his pillow, away from prying eyes. Well, you obviously were going to celebrate. He and the camp could all do with a pick me up. You rushed around camp informing people
"Well he never said nothing! Where am I going to find him anything in such a short time?" Yelled Abigail as you rushed over to the next person.

Once everyone was told you leaped onto your horse, which who by the way, still had no name. You rode into Rhodes clueless as to what you could get him. He had done so much for you, you felt like he deserved the world, but there weren't many shops selling those. You walked around Rhodes aimlessly for a while until an idea hit you. You sprinted into the general store and bought all of Arthurs favourite things: canned peaches, some chocolate, a bottle of whiskey, a cigar, a new belt and a few other bits and pieces. You then set off, hiding these little gifts in little nooks and cracks around Rhodes and it's surrounding areas. The sun was setting by the time you were done, so you headed back to camp with your fingers crossed nobody would find your gifts and steal them. On the way out of Rhodes there was a man drunk and disorderly, he was clinging onto a street light, keeping himself stood up right. You looked at him with questioning eyes. He swore at you
"Alright buddy let's remember whose so drunk they've wet themselves and who is on a horse on the way back from spending money on their partner." You looked down at him while moving. He was too drunk to remember anything the next morning so no point waisting your breath on him. You watched the stars as you rode home. The trees whispered a familiar sound when you got close to camp. Your eyes wandered by the camp fire and there sat with the golden glow shimmering over him was Arthur. You felt yourself get butterflies just from looking at him, you really fell in love with him harder than you thought was possible, but Arthur proved to you time and time again that life with him was mystical and that anything was possible. Your little fairytale life was brighter than ever, proven by the cheesy smile drawn upon your face. You floated over to Arthur and sat next him
"There she is! My better half!" He yelled wrapping his arm around you "I ain't seen much of you today"
"I was out on mail duty" you lifted your head and smiled at him
"Ohhh now well isn't that fancy" he added, taking a swig of his beer "well I'm going to have to love you and leave you sadly y/n, I'm fighting to keep my eyes open."
"Yeah I think I'm going to hit the hay too." You pecked his cheek and you both told each other goodnight and how you loved each other like you do every night before bed and went your separate ways to your tents. You snuggled into your blankets and your dreams were crowded by visions of a happy Arthur. You were determined to make this birthday the most magical one yet. For he was a Prince Charming and was more than deserving of his happily ever after.
