3rd Person

A few days passed, slowly, Jayland was slowly settling down more but there were still bumps in the road.

He was currently waking up from his afternoon nap on his play mat, his hair that had grown out was in a messy disarray and he had crusts in his eyes. He could tell where his new parents were, clearly in the kitchen due to the shadows in the distorted inside window.

However, what Jayland found strange was the quietness of the house, although these people were a lot quieter than he used to. Normally he could still hear small amounts of chatter and housework that was happening. Not this time, this time, if you dropped a sewing needle from his nursery, you would be able to hear the metal ring through the house. Jayland didn't like that. It made him anxious.

Slowly he stood up, cringing at the feeling of a soaked diaper between his legs. He waddled towards the kitchen and peeked around the corner.

Nyx and Reka sat at the island that was in the middle of the kitchen. They didn't seem to be talking, but their lips were moving. When he tried, he could hear the faint, high-pitched buzz of their voices. They were talking in Faevairan but it was anxious and angry, causing it to become more of a buzzing sound than distinguishable words.

Jayland shifted on his feet. "...Papa?" his voice broke and came out as a hushed whisper. He held his breath and hid back behind the wall again. The Fae continued conversing. The boy bit his lip, peeking back around the corner, taking a deep breath he tried again but louder. "Papa?" This time he gained the attention of the two adults.

"Hey, baby boy, had a good nap?" Nyx stood up. Jayland nodded and cringed again as wetness rubbed his thigh. "What's wrong bub?" The dark fae asked noticing the look, his eyes travelled down to where a sagging diaper clung to J-Js legs.

The boy felt tears come to his eyes. "Wet," he whispered.

"Okay bub, let's get you changed." They left the kitchen only leaving Reka.

Reka had a type of look on his face. The look was clearly masking fear and anger. The anger in his eyes swirled and curled. It wasn't often you'd see someone like Reka angry, in fact, the look was almost alien-like on him. He looked back down at the table. It was covered in today's post, the usual things like bills, leaflets and postcards. Those letters were not the root of his anger. His anger stemmed from an envelope that was addressed to his husband. Which of course was not the problem... It was the return address.

Murgni Las,

Ailimaf Acnuleps,

Sitom,

Everfaun Forest.

It made Reka sick to his stomach. Forrest beings along with Woodland beings, naturally, are cautious of dark dwellers such as cave elves, blood workers (Mages and elven folk), Arachne-folk and even dark fae's. It was only by a string of bad luck on both ends that the two faes met each other and fell in love. By tradition, they should have hated each other, in fact, it was forbidden for the two to even have a friendship let alone a romantic relationship.

The envelope was stained with black marks and scratchy penmanship. The ink had turned a sickly green, a black wax seal with the shape of a mountain embedded in it was printed on the end of it. Some edges were bent, others were slightly frayed. The seal was broken, they had read the letter together after Reka had given it to his husband. Reka couldn't understand what was written as it was in tribal faevairan. (The best way to describe the differences would be to compare Mexican Spanish to European Spanish. It's still Spanish but it has its noticeable differences.)

It was from two old friends of Nyx. Neither Fae remembered their last encounter to be a fond one. In fact, it was a short encounter where Nyx introduced Reka as his lover thinking they would accept him and their relationship. They did not. They argued and Nyx took Reka and left for good, vowing to never return. Leaving his clan under unapproved circumstances would have meant that he would be shunned and if he returned he would be punished. Severely.

The letter said that the friends wanted to visit and would be coming within the month. It was a two-week journey from Nyx's homeland and it takes three weeks for a letter to arrive from that far away so it would mean that they were due to arrive any day now and it wasn't like the letter left room for disagreement. The forest fae wanted to be optimistic, it was in his nature to be. maybe they have changed, maybe they wanted to rebuild their and Nyxs friendship.

However, when he last encounter these people one held him down as another held a blade to his neck which was coated in a ritualistic potion that gave the victim the most excruciating and debilitating pain a being could experience without dying. Of course, he would be hesitant to be optimistic. The sufferer of said posion could barely breath and would break out in a cold sweat all while being close to paralyzed. The only antidote was made by the same people who used it and they were known for taking sick twisted pleasure in making them suffer beg or just downright refusing to give it to them. The thought of the torture that he and Nyx could have endured made a sickly cold shiver run through him like a bucket of ice water.

A thud of small feet running into the room made him look up, Jayland was dressed in a set of red and blue footie pyjamas. He was carrying Osborne in his left hand and had a half-empty bottle of water in the other.  "Daddy!" he yelled as he ran into Rekas arm. " I'm hungry!" he announced.

"Inside voices please J-J." Nyx reprimanded his child.

"Sorry Papa," Jay sat down in Rekas lap and put his head on his shoulder. His stomach growled audibly.

"Hungry? well, we can't have that can we?" Reka tickled Jaylands stomach who let out a laugh.

" I'll start the soup then."

HIII,

I hope this chapter was okay.

would you like to have a back story chapter on Nyx and Rekas relationship?

Also, this account isn't my main account, I'm trying to keep them both completely separate due to my current living situation, on my main account I'm writing a fanfiction atm, so I'm alternating between updating the two as one chapter comes out I start on the other one. so when I catch a case of writer's block It affects both books and I apologise for that, that's why I'm so irregular with my updates.

Also, ya'll have very similar pfp and pfp names. although one is reading my book on my main which gave me a -I will bitch slap you fly- anyway yeah you gave me a  heart attack when I saw it.
