Chapter 15: Blood Moon

Buhat ko ang mabigat na gown na suot ko habang naglalakad papunta sa pinto, bagama't dala ko din ang mabigat na pakiramdam mula sa iba't ibang dahilan. Bumuntong hininga muna ako bago nagpasiyang buksan ito.

Hangang ngayon ay hindi ko mapigilang mapaisip sa mga salitang binitawan niya, minsan lamang ako mainis. Pero,  Nakakainis...

Nakakainis dahil hindi pa ako  kailanman nagkakaganito sa mga taong katulad niya, naiinis ako dahil ako 'yung naapektuhan. Isa pa naman sa pinaka ayaw ko ay ang maapektuhan sa mga taong walang puso.

They are individuals who thrive on the misfortunes of others!

Someone abruptly held me and I realized it was just Karlynn, Jaslynn's also with her and their dashing gowns made me looked astonished.

"You look beautiful," we surprisingly said simultaneously. A small chuckle escaped their lips as Jaslynn held both our hands.

"Shall we go now Princesses?" mahinang sabi lang nito, I could only hide my smile as I follow.

Ilang sandali ay nakita din namin sina Leona at Blytha. Sobrang napabilib din ako sa kanilang kagandahan, hindi ko maipagkakaila na talaga namang napakaganda nilang dalawa.

Honestly I couldn't imagine I've got myself attached to all of them, this feeling got me confused, I don't want to get attached but why can't I easily ignore? The fact that it was my own idea of planning to escape with them as well rather than going alone just makes me want to pull my hair. Minsan ay hindi ko na alam kung tama ba itong mga desisyon ko, o kaya ang mga ginagawa ko.

Nagtungo na kaming lima sa colosseum at napahinto muna sa tapat sa nakakamanghang itsura nito. Patunay ngang mahalaga ang okasyon, agaw pansin kaagad ang mga kahanga-hangang dekorasyon sa labas, malalaman na mahigpit din ang seguridad dahil may dalawang guwardiya sa labas na nakabantay.

"Nakakatakot pumasok," bulong ni Blytha.

Napatingin ako nang mabuti sa kanila. Ang mga guwardiyang mukhang malakas na'to ay alam kong may tinatagong kahinaan, this is why I'm not afraid. Kinakaawaan ko pa nga ang mga kagaya nila.

Sa mga nakuha kong impormasyon sa pamamagitan ng pag-obserba, dito sa loob ng kadiliman ay sila 'yung isa sa mga pinaka mababang ranggo kasabay ng mga alipin, kagaya lang ng mga babaeng nag ayos sa akin kanina sa kwarto. Halos hindi na sila makakain sa baba ng sweldo na makukuha nila dito. Kung kami ay libre pa ng pagkain, sila ay hindi.

They are once like us, sa kamalasan ay talagang nagtagal sila dito, napagtagpo ko rin kung bakit may mga top ranked kami sa laro. Because through this survival games, nasa amin rin palang gawain kung ano ang magiging kapalaran namin sa huli. Pagtungto ng benteng edad, nawa'y hindi na magiging libre ang lahat.

"Let's go," nauna na akong pumasok dahil mukhang wala talagang gagalaw ni isa sa kanila.

Pagkapasok ay napatingin kaagad ako sa ibabaw dahil napansin kong transparent glassed roof pala 'yung itaas. We could clearly see the magnificent moon.

"10 minutes pa bago daw mag lunar eclipse." sabi sa'kin ni Karlynn.

While waiting, Leona suddenly approached me, "Hey," bulong niya, "I'm afraid we've gained a little bit of attention, I hope we won't attract anyone of the top ranked guys, it'll be hard and dangerous to escape, especially when someone asked me about you Azami," nag-aalalang sabi nito. Napakunot ang noo namin ni Karlynn.

"It is my fault to accidentally talk to one of them, I'm really sorry! I didn't recognize him immediately," napatingin ako doon and unexpectedly, a few guys actually nodded their heads at me in a flirty way, I could only feel the regret rise within me, yet in that minimal amount of time, someone else caught my attention. I saw Silver at the very back looking at me intently, I looked away pretending that I didn't see him at all.

Why is he looking at me that way? Posible bang may alam siya sa pinaplano namin? Bigla akong kinabahan, alam kong napakamatalas mag-isip ng lalaking 'yun. Pero sana huwag siyang gumalaw ngayon, rest your curious mind Silver, pipilitin kong isipin na walang may nakakaalam...

I immediately disturbed myself and found myself listening to Karlynn and Miles bickering. Ilang sandali ay napaayos lang ako bigla ng tayo noong mamatay ang mga ilaw. 

"Behold, the blood moon!" sinuot kaagad namin ang mga espesyal na solar eclipse glasses na inihanda para sa amin, napanganga ako nang makita kung paano ito unti-unti nang nag-eclipse.

As I was engrossed in watching, I accidentally stumbled when a certain girl walked pass me since our petticoats bumped into each other! Thankfully, someone grabbed my arms to prevent me from falling. However, as soon as I saw his eyes, I already knew that I'm in great danger...

"Care to give me the first dance Azami?" lumiwanag ang spotlight sa'ming dalawa, I looked at my acquaintances in horror as he brought me to the center of the dance floor. After a short while, I have also caught Lucia's presence just to realize what she said the last time I saw her.

'He's expecting you'

So... This is what she was implying... Silly me thinking it was someone else... My eyes broke away from Silver who's sitting beside her as soon as the music played.

Nevertheless, I couldn't comprehend the idea of dancing with Xyruz. The darkness's son is dancing with me! I found myself shivering a little, and in a fleeting moment, I felt his cold fingers touched my chin. I looked up at him.

"Why do you look so pale?" he said with a grin and I felt as if my breath was about to cease within seconds.

"You already know..." I said and his brow raised with confusion yet remained his mischievous grin. I sighed. I always tend to dislike it when someone asks a question they already know the answer to. Moreover, I know he enjoys making it difficult for me.

"Ah, so you believed the rumors?" his grin grew wider and I got confused as we continued dancing.  Inikot niya ako bago siya nagsalita muli.

"There's only one thing that I need to sustain my immortality my dear, and to no longer be burdened by my weaknesses," he said, solemnly caressing my hair as we moved with the steps. I could already feel my hands shaking and growing cold.

"Just a taste of blood from a girl... With a powerful soul," he said in a deep and dangerous tone as I continued to dance while not facing him, he swayed my hand from behind then suddenly, I felt my back touch his chest as he spoke. "And an impaired but unbreakable heart," he whispered into my ears. I could still feel that he was wickedly smiling upon me!

"I've been waiting for that time to come, Azami," I swallowed hard before slowly turning back to him, avoiding direct eye contact.

His words hung in the air as the haunting melody of the music surrounded us. Hindi ko mapigilan ang nakakakilabot na pakiramdam na parang naiipit ako sa isang sayaw na higit pa sa aking maunawaan.

Hindi ko hahayaan na magiging ganito 'yung kapalaran ko, nagkakamali siya nang pinili. Hinding hindi niya makukuha kung ano man ang ninanais niya.

"Nagkakamali ka nang pinili, wala ako sa lahat ng mga sinabi mo. I am not the one you're looking for," mariing saad ko bago napatingin na sa kanya. I am not holding back of what I just said. His face got serious towards my assertions.

"You say so," he finally stated, I bowed to signal the end of our dance. He bowed gently as well before formally turning his back to me. I swallowed hard, my breath feeling heavy, as I stared at the people who were still focused on me.

"Azami!" Leona exclaimed after I had went back. "What do we do? Ikaw ang... Sinayaw niya." mahinang saad nito sa'kin.

"It was just... A dance, everything we've believed weren't true," I took a deep breath before relaxing my system. The cousins Karlynn and Jaslynn abruptly hugged me, and I hugged them back as I finally regained my normal heartbeat.

I was... So scared... I couldn't deny that I am very thankful to these people who got my back. I have to admit it, I do not know what I would do or either what I would feel without them right at this moment.
