Silent Break

Ribbons of life are sliding

Drops of sadness are falling

And the excuses I hear have led me to fear for her life

(When did you become such a mess?)

*She won't talk to me

She's not listening

As her blood slips to the floor

She's slipping away from me

(All I can do is hold her numb frame close to me)

When her damp eyes open I ask her

**Why do you hurt yourself?

(Don't you know I love you?)

Why are you so insecure?

(When you're so beautiful)

You were so sweet and so pure

(Why're you giving up on yourself?)

In the cluster of drugs and alcohol

She let herself drift away so easily

(So completely)

I should have known she wouldn't be strong enough

I should have known that this has gone on long enough

I can't help feeling that this all my fault

Her inevitable collapse from the inside out

Even though she's not speaking

(I feel like I can hear her screaming for help)

I can't stand the thought

Of her leaving me here like this

(Forever)

(What would I do without her?)

I don't even remember who needed who more

(She never once let it show)

I want to know that I'm someone worth living for
