-You're picking a fight now?-
'Sorry, I just dared to tell you how I feel and now you have a death wish.'
-Tomi, asked me the same question not too long ago.-
With that, the wind deflated from Seki's sails.
'Tomi, I see...'
-Long story, we can discuss it later, XO. What about our guest?-
'When I heard it's call for help...'
-It? You mean Bob?-
'Yes, Bob. I directed some marines squads to your location.'
-So you could contact the Major then?-
'Yes, not too long after you left. The network stabilised.'
-How did that happen?-
'Alice created some subroutines that would reset the network should such a situation arise.' Oh, Alice, you beautiful overachiever you.
'Yes, I agree. She is amazing. As I was saying, I contacted the Major. I told him where you were headed, and he vectored several squads to your location. We weren't able to contact you because the network was still non-functional where you were located.' She took a breath and continued her report. 'By the time they got to your location, you were already unconscious, and they found it just standing over you. It complied with their instructions and they rushed you to the surgical ward.'
-So where is it now?-
'They took it into custody, and it's in the brig, which Alice has reinforced with multiple layers of armour and doors to ensure our guest could not escape. It has been under constant marine guard ever since.'
-Did anybody talk to it?-
'When I spoke to it, it said it would only speak to you when you revive.'
-How did it know I would survive, given the beating it gave me?-
'I don't know, you'll have to ask yourself when you get a chance.'
-I will, and its ship?-
'Its ship has remained one hundred thousand kilometres distant throughout the entire fracas.'
It really wasn't afraid of us.
'What makes you say that?'
-I emptied two-and-a-half magazines into it at point-blank range, and it just stood there and smiled at me and then kicked my ass with slow deliberation.- She winced at the image.
