Timothy

"Y-your friends!? Timothy what the hell?" Jason asked, he was furious and I sighed. "Look," my voice comes out forlorn and I can see him gearing up for an argument. I put as much calm into my words as I can, praying the others wake soon and that it doesn't seem condescending. "We don't have time for this discussion. I get it needs to happen but, we don't have the time."
I watch him for a moment waiting for a rebuttal, when nothing comes I breathe a sigh of relief. Good, I didn't want to fight him.
Everything I did to get here was partially for Jason, I didn't know what happened to him. Last I saw he was hurt, bleeding, and I was taken. Though, he never did come for me. Even once he was healed, he still waited for Jerome to call the shots.
It was pathetic. I feel my anger burning as I watch him, and close my eyes slowly taking a breath. I turn to the others now, addressing them while Jason thinks everything over.
"Brandon, Jason, Stahsi can transport you. Let her. Leave the cars, Tsu needs treatment, so does Davi." Jason was pale and looked like he was going to hurl, but nodded.
"Not to mention, any of the others." I say offhandedly and Brandon, it was clear he was absolutely terrified, and Bri, she was just clearly trying to understand what was happening. Stahsi, Dylan, and Dave stood just behind the cars looking nonchalant and carefree.
Stahsi stared at her nails and held her right hand out while Dave leaned and looked at it as well. Dylan just stood off to the side, alone. I couldn't help the small smile that tried to play on my lips as I watched the two.
Dave was so proud of himself, he'd painted Stahsi's nails just last night. He was so happy she enjoyed his work. I was pulled from my thoughts though, as Jason growled, "no." I turned from the newcomers to my brother and didn't speak, just raised a brow in question. "No way, we're not doing that. Timothy, we came to rescue you and you want to go back?" His hand was on my wrist and I felt his fingers dig in leaving bruises.
There was an urgency in his voice and I could tell he was scared. Scared for me, scared of me, it didn't matter he was just scared. I sighed, looking him over with pity. I felt for him, I did. But we didn't have time for this, whatever this was. If he'd actually cared, he would've come sooner.
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to detach emotionally so as not to give him this win. "Jason, this may be hard for you to swallow, but" my voice was low and dangerous.
Just as I'd been taught, I saw as his eyes widened and he licked his lips in something like fear. "You, Jerome, Kai, and Davi left me." I spoke slowly so he could easily grasp what I was telling him. "Dylan trained me. He saved me. Not you." I felt a crack and stinging sensation on my left cheek and put my hand up to it. Jason was breathing hard now, rage filled his eyes again and he glared at me.
"He didn't save you! He took you! He-" he stopped and I sighed, "Jake took me to make a point. He cut my fingers off because you never came. You left me." His hand dropped and his skin paled, "s-so what? You're with them?"
I couldn't help but scoff and roll my eyes, before I could answer I felt as Dylan came to stand beside me. "Though I do enjoy a good drama unfolding before my eyes," he says quietly to me before raising his voice to the others. "Timothy's right. We don't have time for this conversation. The time's come for us to work together. Here's our card, give it to your boss."
He winked at me and pressed the card to Jason's hand before turning and walking away. Stahsi and Dave flanked him and I sighed, "Timothy, you're with me." The tension in Jason's voice left no room for arguing.
I groaned inwardly and threw my head back but didn't argue. "Brandon follow us, stay right behind us," the boy nodded and Jason glanced at the van with worry clear in his eyes.
"You gonna drive, or cry all over the place? I can drive now if you want." Jason glared at me and I held my hands up in surrender.
Once we were on the road again I couldn't help but sigh in content, my mind was awash with all the sensations that came with using my power. I felt like it was buzzing with so much. At the point of impact I become connected to those that I kill, so even though I touched the car, I felt the people in the cars. Their determination to hurt me, their shock, their realization that the tide has turned, and finally, their fear.
They don't actually feel the pain when they blow up, their brains blow up on impact and the body just follows. They fear the fear. It's an odd combination but there's no changing it. You can't simply tell someone to not be afraid, it does nothing, except make them more afraid.
I sighed softly as I stared out the window at the passing town, my mind wandered for a moment until I heard Jason's phone ring. I couldn't help but jump as it did, once I realized what it was I couldn't help the smile. Really? A phone? Pull it together, he spoke quietly for a moment before hanging up and sighed loudly. He was clearly frustrated at the situation, not to mention stressed about how to explain everything that had just happened to Kai and Davi.
I felt bad for him, but at the same time I didn't. It wasn't my place to-not anymore-so instead, I turned to him and raised a brow silently. I wasn't going to actually say anything but I certainly was going to watch him. His face was pinched, his jaw clenched, and his hands were tight on the steering wheel. It was clear he was stressed, I heard shuffling in the back seat and looked back to see Kai. He sat up slowly and shook his head, it was as though he were trying to shake the cobwebs free. I couldn't help the small chuckle that slipped out, after a moment his eyes roamed and found me. He made a small shocked sound before he spoke, his voice came out surprisingly controlled and firm despite having just woke up.
"Where are we going?"
Jason frowned looking in his mirror to meet Kai's eyes, it was clear he was trying to gauge how awake the older man was. He grimaced and I watched the decision being made as his face calmed. "Glad you're awake boss, you tell me. Ash's or?" Kai frowned, "how are you in charge of transportation and you don't know where you're transporting to?" Jason opened his mouth to answer but a shrill ringing filled the truck.
He paled and muttered under my breath, "put it on speaker," he said throwing his phone at me. I briefly toyed with the idea of declining it but decided to be the better person for half a minute. I looked at the screen and saw a horrible close up of his face with the name Davi flashing on the top.
"That's, wow, that's a photo," I said before clicking the green button. Jason chuckled under his breath but focused on weaving between the other cars on the road. After a moment, Davi spoke and it was clear he was annoyed, "it's about fucking time Jason."
His voice was surprisingly strong too, despite having completely drained all his energy not even an hour ago. Between shocking Tsu, clearing the hotel and the cops with his electricity, he had overexerted himself.
I was amazed he could even function enough to form a sentence, let alone be angry. I remember he used to be out for hours, what changed?
I frowned slightly but forced myself to focus. "Jesus Christ. We need to get to a bunker, or something, I need to finish healing Tsu." His voice sounded tired and laced with annoyance, there it is. He's still tired he's just got a little more resistance. Strength training, gotta be it.
I mentally sighed in relief as I came to this realization, any info I'd given Jake was still right. Briefly, I let the fingers of my left hand trail gently across my right wrist over my new tattoo.
I smiled softly at the memory, Dave had been the one to actually give me the ink. He'd been so happy and proud of me as he'd done it.
Jake sat beside me on one side while Dylan sat on the other.
It hurt like hell, and I'd forced myself to not flinch, when it was over dave had taught me how to keep it clean and care for it.
It was a fun night, Kai spoke surprising me with how calm his voice was. "Davi, calm down. You healed her there didn't you? Her body can do the rest, yours is already hurting and over exerted, don't push yourself more. Allow yours to heal."
"If anything, she might need blood but we have some on hand at the base. She'll be fine, Jerome said go back to Ash's and wait for instruction." I could hear nothing but silence on the other end. I was expecting him to have hung up but when I looked his name was still displayed.
After a moment, I heard the angry sigh, "fine." With that, he hung up and I pursed my lips. Kai sighed and leaned back in the seat clearly trying to get his mind moving. "Jason, take us to Ash's I don't imagine we'll stay long but, Jerome wants us to meet there." He nodded and I felt the car pull further ahead. We had a long drive ahead of us and I didn't want to talk to Jason so, I found myself zoning out staring out the window as city's and towns zoomed past. I could see brief flashes of people if I focused. Playing at parks, walking down streets, I even saw some detained by police.
I sighed and closed my eyes not wanting to see the complete ugly in the world. Tsu, I refuse to be the glue. They need you too, don't you dare leave us. With that I felt a light calm wash over me, my eyes shot open and I had enough time to see Kai grimace before the feeling intensified and I passed out. Shit.
