The rest of the day didn't really bring with it another cray-cray tale in the neighborhood Quint Andrews lived in, leading him to wake up in his bed the next morning. He barely remembered anything as usual.

Aaaand neither did he remember that Scott had a habit of locking his door for some reason.

Quint ended up throwing himself into the door again, startling him. It took him a while to recall why it was locked, and mentally rolled his eyes as he proceeded to unlock it and finally go out.

As soon as he got out though, he could hear something banging on the door in the neighbouring room. Quint let out a muffled, still-tired yawn before walking over to his sister's... presumably locked door.

"You alright in there?" He pressed his face against the wooden door.

"It's locked again."

"Why did I ask...?" Quint mumbled as he briefly moved away from the door, then turned back to her, "I'm going to ask mom for the key again, okay?"

"Okay...! I'm just gonna draw."

The boy exhaled quietly as he walked away, calmly directing himself to the stairs to go to his parents' room. That was until he was stopped halfway by the sound of Jamie's door swinging open, and her presumably falling onto the floor with a scream and a heavy thud.

Quint jumped as he saw this, sprinting over to his sister. "You alright?"

She was face-planted on the floor, but steadily raised her hand, clenching her fist with a thumb up. Quint scratched his head as he grabbed her by the shoulders, lifting her back onto her feet.

"So did you figure out how to open it?"

"...Something else did," Jamie murmured dizzily, "I dunno, it just... opened on its own..."

You could give her a heads-up, Scott...

"Yeeeaaah, nevermind," Quint patted the girl's back, before slowly pulling her off to the stairs, "Let's just have some breakfast."

Jamie mumbled, "Mmmkay..."

The two siblings journeyed down to the living room, then into the kitchen. It was still empty, so Quint assumed that their parents were actually still asleep. Jamie took the cereal box while her brother grabbed a carton of milk from the fridge and took bowls and spoons.

They shared the cereal between themselves, holding a quiet atmosphere as they ate.

"That's the second time it got locked," Jamie mumbled. Quint nodded in agreement, "...It was."

It was quiet again. Quint craned his head to the front door, but it didn't seem like anyone was there. Perhaps the agents stopped coming because the house was done. Scott didn't seem to be in the kitchen either, since it wasn't cold.

"I'm done, Quint," Jamie dropped her spoon in her empty bowl, mostly full of milk flavored by the cereal that was in it, "I'm gonna play outside now."

"Play outside?" That's new, "...Alright."

"Bye."

The girl stood up from the table and off to the door, only to turn the knob and find out it was locked too.

"...Quint, can you teach me how to unlock doors?"

"Jamie..." Quint exhaled as he left the kitchen to meet her, "You just press the button on the knob."

"Oh," Jamie pressed that small button on the doorknob, and yes, it unlocked. She then proceeded to open the door and walk out, her backpack in one hand. "Bye!"
