A/N: Ready, set, here we go!!!!

***Freed's p.o.v***

"Tch," I gritted my teeth as I stared at her.

Her pale lifeless looking body as it slowly breathed in and out, covered in wrappings of bandages across her face and shoulder.

I could feel the weight of the other's gaze, the weight of the guilt and pain of what I had caused upon her.

I grinded my teeth once more before I turned away from her, no longer having the strength to look upon what I had done.

My bangs covered my face as I walked out the door of the infirmary silently.

I felt a hand against my shoulder stop me and turned to see Laxus staring back at me with a look of concern.

"Freed wait, let us help-" Laxus started.

A growl erupted from my throat as my inner demon growled.

"I don't need your help!" I growled, roughly swiping away Laxus's hand from my shoulder.

Laxus jolted in surprise at the sudden outburst as he gazed at me with widened eyes.

I widened my own eyes before I tried to cover my demon's eye with my hand as I turned away.

"Just- just leave me alone Laxus," I whispered as I walked away.

Laxus turned away sadly as I walked away.

"You know where to find us if you need us," I heard him mutter.

I quietly stumbled out of the guild, no one bothering to stop me as I headed back home.

'Who could blame them. I wouldn't want to get near me either,' I thought biting my lip.

I sighed slightly in relief as I entered the house thankful that I was finally alone.

No, not alone.

As soon as the thought passed through my mind, I felt it.

I felt the demon wandering through my soul, searching for another opening, another access to gain control of my soul once again.

I shivered at the feeling.

I stumbled to the stairs, my own body still healing, protesting every movement.

I was out of breath as I reached the top of the stairs, pausing to breathe in the quiet house, proof that it was just me, just us.

I could feel the demon as if it stared back at me. No, I know it was staring back at me. It's dark glowing purple eyes I stared at my soul in hunger.

I wanted to scream at it, to yell at it to Go away, but I didn't say a word. I couldn't bring myself to confront it, I couldn't, because the truth was so simple it hurt.

I was terrified of the demon.

Terrified of allowing it control, terrified of what it would do, who else it might hurt.

I felt the demon grin inside of me, mocking and triumphant as if laughing at my own pity.

"No..." I muttered to the empty house as I stumbled past my room.

I slipped inside the bathroom, my legs stumbling as I did so. Worried my legs would give out on me, I steadied myself against the sink. My hands reached out to grip the basin, not liking how much I desperately needed the support.

My eyes were fixated on the ground, my head bowed as I tried to breathe and not think about anything. Not about the demon wandering beneath my skin, not about the prickling of the demon's magic against my skin, or about the pain that throbbed with every breath I took.
