Chapter 2 - An Interesting Game of Cards

A/N: Since this is my first book, PLEASE tell me in the comments if there are any grammar mistakes so I can fix them please. Thank you and enjoy the story.

***Rachel's p.o.v***

It's been two weeks since I first joined Fairytail. During that time, I bought a house, (as in I don't have to pay rent😋), and I bought nice new set of clothes. I am now wearing a black, shorts jumpsuit with white stripes, a pink headband, pink collared jacket, and black boots with a white stripe.

During these last few weeks, I have also finished my training with Erza. She taught me the basics and how I can improve myself on my own.

I also got to know more people around the guild as well. I met Grey, who is a pretty cool guy to hang out with unless he's losing his clothes or fighting Natsu. I met with the flirtatious Loke, who attempted to flirt with me, (which I rightfully denied). I also met Elfman, who's a pretty reliable guy who seems to compare things to 'Real Men' a lot. Cana, an overall fun person to be around when she isn't drinking, and everyone else in the guild. I enjoy the guild and they all seem to be good people.

Right now, I am in the guildhall playing cards with Loke, Gray and Cana. "Ta-Da!" I shouted putting down my cards. 

"Darn it Rachel! How do you keep winning!" Gray yelled. 

"I don't know, I'm just trying to have fun to be honest. This is my first-time playing cards," I replied, giggling. We were playing poker.

"Cana, are you sure you're not dealing the cards in her favor?" Loke asked. 

"No! I'm not! She's just damn lucky!" Cana yells. 

"Well that's some damn luck," Loke mutters.

"Cana, I'm dealing the cards, I'm winning this time," Gray says, taking the cards. 

As Gray deals out the cards, Mira walks over to our table. "Hey Rachel, can I ask you something?"

"Sure, go ahead," I reply checking my cards.

"Could you go with a group on a mission? Your magic would be very helpful in completing the mission," Mira asks. 

"Of course, I'm always happy to help. Who am I going with?" I ask turning around.

Mira turned to the four people walking up behind her. "You'll be going with us," said a big blonde guy with a lightning scar on his face. "The names Laxus," he says.

"And we are the Thunder Legion. My name is Freed, Freed Justine and I am the captain of the Thunder Legion," says the green haired man. 

"I'm Bickslow, and these are my babies," the tall knight man says, pointing to his dolls. 

"And I'm Evergreen, queen of the fairies," the brunette woman says.

"Nice to meet you all. My names Rachel, Rachel Medallia," I say, standing up to greet them.

"Alright girly, the only reason your coming with us is because Master won't let us go on this mission without you. Apparently, your magic may be useful, and I hope he's right cause I'm not being responsible for some weakling," Laxus growls, glaring at me.

I look back at him seriously and confidently say, "Don't you worry. I can take care of myself." Laxus grunts and walks away, the Thunder Legion following suite, but not before telling me to meet them at the Train Station at 7 a.m. They also mentioned that if I was late, they will leave without me.

I turn back to see the others looking at me with shocked faces. "What?" I ask.

"Wow, you just stood up to Laxus," Loke says in shock.

I roll my eyes with a smile and sit back down, while Mira heads back to the bar.

"Alright everyone, cards down," Gray says. Loke had nothing, Cana had a straight, Gray had a flush and I put down my royal flush.

"Damn it, Rachel! Why can't you seem to lose!" Gray yelled throwing his hands in the air.

"I quit. I'm done," Loke said simply, as he stood up and walked off.

I chuckled and stood up as well. "I better get going too. I got to make sure I'm ready for this mission tomorrow," I say to Cana as I head out.

"Good Luck!" Cana yells after me. I smile and wave back as I exit the guild doors.
